Hmmmm give the precats a thump
Tony, you may remember that I arrived at 'Fest last year with a rattle that sounded like engine damage at certain RPMs, and turned out to be those stupid bloody hex nuts that hold the heat shield on.
Having robbed two of them from under the rear seat squab, problem solved. I think your original diagnosis is the first thing to look for; after all, a collapsed pre-cat would make that bank run like a dog...
Next time I have her uncovered and give her a run, will look at this, just in case it is the hex bolt loose on the heat shield. Last time I checked, everything was all ok, but that was a while ago, so will re-check again.
That's the one. I switched the D over to V-Power/BP Ultimate after increasing the ignition advance on it.I thought the point of higher octane was so you can have a more advanced timing curve without getting detonation
