Previous owner needed for info before buying please

If these are the same as the Mondeo alignment pins I may have a set kicking about somewhere if anybody wants them. No use to me now.

Regards,
Andy

If it's not to nosey I'd be curious as to the asking price

last time this was up for sale the price was extremely high

FWIW (and despite my earlier 'walk away' comment) I think with little work this could be a great car again - new wishbones, new subby, soon to be a new alty.
It already looks the part, happy days!

Since the subframes are 100% compatible, seems they would do.
If that's aimed at the pins, I'll have a shifty around some boxes in the garage, I've owned a set at some point in history and doubt I'd have thrown them away.... Whoever wants to collect them have have them, or arrange postage if I find them; it's too dark to go looking this evening though.

Regards,
Andy

had a thought about the steering wheel being about 1/4 turn out, changing the wishbones wouldn't normally alter the steering by that amount, so what i think happened and easy fix is, when they lowered the subframe they released the steering column on inside of car by the floor, they did the wishbones and refitted the subframe and when reconnecting the column, they put it back one flat out which would give you around the 1/4 turn out, iirc the clamp/steering rack is a three sided shaft so one flat would make it about 1/3rd out, as said it's about a quarter out then a third isn't much more and if the wishbones did alter the steering it would only be slight so this could be the cause of steering wheel out of position and is just a case of undoing clamp and repositioning steering wheel
it would still need to have the subframe centralised and a geometry check done to ensure it's runs true, but could explain the steering wheel being quarter turn out

Hello and welcome aboard Libby. Sorry to hear about the issues you are having with your new coug. Good to see another person from Lincoln, my home town. Grew up in Skellingthorpe as well as West Parade. Will look forward to you putting up the photo's of your coug.

£130 is the maximum I would spend on getting an alternator, its about an hour long job to change once you have the wheels off well worth doing yourself if you can wield a spanner and a ratchet, will cost a couple of hundred labour in a main garage most V6 owners who don't mind getting dirty and working on their car see this as a right of passage  done several of them now and always up for a minimeet if I can get there provided bacon is on the schedule (y)

I was about to say that an hour (once prepped) was a bit optimistic, but you've done so many of the things that it wouldn't surprise me.

Libby, Paul is among the top people I'd have work on my car (the rest know who they are). If you do decide to get an MFSM together, all he will ask for is half a pig and bucket of tea. Cheaper and more fun than a garage.

Firstly let me say thank you . I appreciate the warm welcome and kind help . I now have my Cougar and its fixed and looking beautiful . My hubby did the alternator and by the amount and severity if the swear word coming from his workshop it was a hard job . The subframe is new or reconditioned qnd is perfectly in line . We had Bush tyres do the alignment and it is not crabbing at all . Its not as fast as my MG but I covers the miles better and is way nicer to drive . He has the engine in bits nownputting the manifold and bits we saved from my last Cougar . Pics tomorrow after I have fitted my wheels and cleaned it . Thanks again

Good news libby, I hope the car gives you plenty of happy miles!

next steps? get yourself subscribed and come along to a show or two!

Steve.

I am looking forward to coming to some shows . I will subscribe . I have just done my favourite job to my car . I love power polishing. I sanded the whole car with 1500 grit and G3d and waxed it and it really does not have a single rust bubble . She is gleaming and having some decent Mobil oil put in and Molyslip in gearbox and engine . Hubby swears by the stuff after being told ofnits virtues by a mechanic friend who worked Toca Clio cup engins . I am sure somebody has looked after this car because for a 14 year old its cleaner than our 3 year old Discovery . Any info on setting up the coil overs would be great . It seems a little low to me and I cant figure out how to upload pictures on here ???? . Thanks and honestly I have never had such a warm welcome to any site .

Well done Libby getting your hubby to do all the dirty jobs on your car, I wish I had someone who was just as keen. To upload pictures you will need a free photobucket account then use the img code to insert images.
