Rear subframe

Hi all,

My 2000 v6 cougar has just failed its mot on a rotten rear subframe!
Does anyone know where i can get a replacement, compatible one??
Plenty on ebay for the mondeo mk 3, is this compatible or not? any help or suggestions would be gratefully received!!

Si (Scunnycougar) is probably your best bet for a good secondhand one.

Hi all,

I am having a nightmare trying to find a supplier of a replacement subframe in the timescale i am looking for (fitted and retested by next friday!!)
As a last resort my garage have said they can order one from Ford! Depends how much this costs as to whether I keep the car or not!
Anybody know how much would this set me back and is it worth doing, Is it likely to extend the lifespan of my cougar by much?

Going on current 'form', a brand new subframe from Ford would last you another 10-12 years. What I would advise, if you go down that route, is to Waxoyl the bejesus out of it from day one. If the majority of ours had had this done regularly since new, they'd probably still be perfectly fine today.

I'm assuming the estate one wouldn't fit but the saloon or hatchback should be ok. Mk3 deffo no good.

found a good clean looking mondeo mk2 at a scrappy so hoping this time next week my cat will have a non rotten subframe and a years mot!!!
