Running in

Rik, you bugger!!! I've got to go change me shreddies again, just wet me others!! LOL!!!!!

Mate, that is stunning!!!!! Would like to see a bigger tail pipe coming out of the rear though....although it's proberly standard and therefore exactly what should be on the car. I love white Ford's....can't think why??? lol!!!!

Looking good there Rik, glad your dream is back on the road, did you have the alloy's refurb whilst it had some downtime as there looking good
200 miles for initial run in seems a bit on the low side, use to recommend 500-600 miles for re-con engines or major bottom end work with oil and filter change then as well, then as you say gradual/gentle increase in rev's and fun, but still avoiding maximum's (for any length of time) till around the 4-5,000 mile mark
glad it's back on the road and your enjoying it that's the main thing

Thanks Tony

Wheels were new when I bought it

Planning on taking it very steady for at least 500 miles and first oil and filter change

The Cosworth oracles reckon that you have to drive them quite hard to get them to bed in especially with 10/60 synthetic oil but to avoid rev limiter and prolonged full boost

It`s a bit of a balancing act, if you don`t run them in hard enough it takes forever

I`m still going to drive like my grandad, it`s quite funny seeing peoples reactions when you don`t disappear rapidly into the distance

that was the other thing which cause's a lot of debate was just to use ordinary oil for the initial 5/600 miles and also till the next one at 4/5000 mile as it let's the engine wear/bed in, then go to synthetic after, a lot of the larger Volvo/Merc truck/bus engine don't bed in till 50,000 and use a little oil till then, then there good for 750,000 to a million miles upwards serviced regularly
