Basically the XAVs were all registered for the public launch when they officially went on sale to the public (100+ cars?).
The UK 'press' launch was some months before at the F1 GP at Silverstone.
The seller, or his informer, has got these two events a little mixed up.

Hi, I have just joined the UKcougar.com and typed in my reg S921XAV and surprise surprise I found a discussion on it.

I bought the car last year, only paid £1500 though as £2k was too much although that being said I did use the £1400 I got for my probe which was ridiculous money.

Excellent car, my second cougar now and this one is for keeps, it is pretty much mint now chipsaway took out the only 2 dents on the body out, just the rear bumper to get resprayed due to a couple of scratches and its pretty much perfect.

Already got some nice 18" alloys on it and the standard ones powder coated white with my winter tyres on, lower suspension waiting to be fitted, induction kit, drilled and grooved discs all round.

Still only got 38k on it as I do mostly motorbike mileage and truth be told I think I got a bargain at £1500 it seriously drives, feels and looks like new my last one hat 80k on it and the difference was huge.

Will upload some pics of her when I get used to the site.

Cheers

I'd be interested in the condition of the driver's seat if you fancy posting a pic of that. Mainly for future reference; the C1s appear to have had seats made out of leather the thickness of something not very thick! I ended up paying a bit over the odds (£1695) for a C2 Auto with 63k on the clock but I'd got a bit desparate by that time. That guy from Panther Cars or whatever they're called had the price up and down like a whore's knickers! Silly bugger - I'm glad he didn't get a stupid price for it after all that! Have you done anything about the advisories on last year's MOT? Saying that, I got a few advisories last year, did nothing about them, and got a totally different set this year! I'm still on the lookout for a manual one instead, even though I quite enjoy the auto and generally love the car but my leather is in really pretty good nick compared to all of the C1s I've seen.

Drivers seat bolster is fine, very slight wear, but there is nothing you can do to stop it, I think I may be similar to you in the way that I wanted leather but did not want old saggy looking stuff. I have a car re-upholsteres by me and I think they quoted something like £450 to change cloth to leather on my last cougar so even if you bought a manual one with a cloth interior it would not cost the earth to convert it and the door cards are readily available on ebay.
Same here I still paid too much but I could not find a better low mileage cougar than this so I took the plunge, this year it failed the MOT on rusty discs hence the new drilled and grooved ones and a sidelight bulb which was out, Autoglass fixed the chip in the windscreen when I got the car so only advisory this year was the chip in the windscreen again oddly enough no corroded brake pipes.
