Sad News (Vonny)

i had strange feeling to pop on here seems my gut feeling was right..sorry is not enough to say.. i aint spoke to al for quite a while but ill leave it for a bit..vonny was very cool sunnie liked her a lot as well we hope al will be ok...

I got a call from Al last evening to tell me the sad news and it was all I could do to hold back the tears. Vonny was such a wonderful person with a heart of gold and an inspiration to us all. She will certainly be very sadly missed by all who's heart she touched.
My sincere condolences go out to Al and all the family at this sad time. R.I.P. Vonny, go and sleep with the Angels, you will not be out of place.

Al called Kathy yesterday while she was in work to deliver the devastating news about Vonny. Kathy called me, in tears, to tell me what had happened. So sorry to hear of Vonny's passing - sincere condolences from myself and Kathy to Al and the whole family at this terribly sad time. I can't imagine what Al must be going through and it is heartbreaking to think that, due to the lockdown, the extended family at UKC will not be able to pay their respects in the manner we normally would. Rest in peace, Vonny.

So very sad to read this thread , Vonny was an absolute diamond and will be sorely missed by everyone , thinking of Al at this very sad time

Just heard the news......she was one of the most genuine, lovely people and I never heard her say a bad word about anything.
No-one did a stew like she did!
She’ll be missed....our thoughts are with Alan and we’ll raise a glass to her tonight for sure.

Really sad to hear this, so sorry for your loss Alan.
Rest in peace Vonny xx

I have only caught up with this today no words can express how I feel about Vonny and Al. I loved you both with equal measure true friends in a time I was hurting. RIP Vonny and her beef stew was the stuff of legend!!!!!!!!!. God bless you Vonny you are a saint!!!!!!!!!!!.

Really terrible news. I wasn't lucky enough to have met Vonny, but it is obvious from the posts here that she was a true friend to everyone involved with the club and will be greatly missed. I echo everyone else in offering my sincere condolences for your loss, Al.

Al has let me know that Vonny's funeral is on Thursday 07/05 at 10.00am.

Unfortunately due to the restrictions imposed by the Coronavirus Outbreak the number permitted to attend is limited to 10 people.
Understandably the available places are reserved for close family and so to that end UK Cougar's tribute to Vonny will take the form of a suitable floral bouquet delivered via Interflora.

Should anyone wish to organise their own personal tribute in the same manner please PM MYSELF to obtain Al's address should you not already know it.

Al is aware the time frame for organising any tributes is very tight and should it prove to be difficult to arrange for deliveries to arrive before 9.00am on Thursday he will make sure all of them join Vonny at her final resting place at the earliest opportunity.

Cheers Andy. Once again you've done all the right stuff in trying circumstances. Times like this are when the club is most important, the car only gets us together, its the people that make us stay together. Hopefully Vonny will have as good a send-off as is possible at the moment, we won't forget her. Thanks again.

If the club is doing a floral tribute already, then I won't send one of my own. I would however like to make a small donation to their charity of choice.

I doubt Al is around here much (if at all) at the moment, so if anyone has any suggestions - Macmillan Nurses? British Heart Foundation? - I'd be happy to hear them. And if anyone wants to get on board with this idea, please PM me and we'll work something out.

:edit: Typo

Okay - I've had a chat with Andy to formalise this.

In a few days' time I'll be making donations to Macmillan Nurses and British Heart Foundation in Al and Vonny's name. If you'd like to independently donate to them as well, that would be great.

However, if you want to pile on with me, I'll happily take your donations, bundle them together and send them on. I'll provide email receipts and Andy knows that every penny will go to the charities.

I'll accept any donations up until 10th May. If you want to get on-board, please PM me and I'll give you my PayPal address.

::last edit:: I've had a handful of donations now, and all contributors have been sent Paypal receipts. I just want to say that I won't be naming anyone because charity is a personal thing, (yes, I get the irony). My point is, Al and Vonny are our people and we should honour them however we see fit; flowers, money, or even just raising a glass.

Once met never forgotten, she was a lovely person. All our warmest wishes to Al from me and my family.

I'd just like to say that the response I've had has been pretty great. We're only a little club, but I've received £150 in donations so far. That's more than I expected for an ask like this - especially at this time - but you all should know that I thank you.

I'll be honoured to do the donations, and will publicly post the receipts from the two charities that we chose.

In the meantime, I'm keeping this open until Sunday. Whatever you want to donate - even sofa cash - is fine by me.
