Shattered balls.. not good dude.

GUYS I JUST REMEMBERED SOMETHING! this also happened last year and then cured itself the next morning normal morning start. dose this help? maybe dyg dude is right?

You shouldn't need a jack or stands for both jobs.
Starter is on top of the gearbox - remove air filter and bellows (maybe battery) for access.
Water pump will probably need battery out and some water hoses disconnecting for access. Use lots of rags to catch any water from the hoses.

Or just drain the system via the bottom hose and then refill the system with fresh coolant. Starter motor is a tad fiddly to wriggle out but you should be ok as you've got small hands like Dave ;)

As said both changed from the top I took the water pump apart leaving everything else in place as the pump is in two parts.

I undid the bolts on the pump after slipping the belt off I then tied a bit of strung through one of the bolt holes and lowered it through the engine bay to the floor, I then tied the new one into the string and pulled it up through the bay and bolted it all back together job done piece of cake :D

Could some please one past a picture up with an arrow pointing towards the starter motor? this would really help. i will start dygs fix first, then the water pump when ordered.

Thank you again dudes!

UPDATE 1: Found it but cant get to the starter motor properly .

Hi all. its been a while but im glad to say that im back on the road. the problem was a knackered starter motor (you were right kully!)
I was tempted to take my cat to my trusting garage, but when i was told that it would cost £245 inc vat, i tuned and burned!
it took me a while to pluck up the courage to do this all by myself, but i did manage to put my starter motor in successfully last week!!! horaayyyyyy!!!
Looks like ill be coming down to Ford fair 2012 after all  I would like to thank everyone who gave me advice and input regarding this ordeal.

It pays to be a subscriber and to also know great friends!

It really is a piece of cake mani and because its the highest point in the coolant system coolant loss will be negligible

To be on the safe side chuck a bit of card or sheet under the car to catch any dropped bolts and keep the crap off the new pump as you tying and lifting if from the floor

This is where kully gets jealous as tiny girl hands like mine make this job a lot easier.

I think it took me roughly 30 mins to do it but that's including a bit of head scratching until I came up with the string idea basically I was too lazy to strip pipes etc to get to it :D
