Shortshift...........yuk

I have no idea how much these are worth, but getting it out and replacing it is my problem, I am not good doing things on cars.
Soon as I sort that out and if you still want it when I do we can sort something out.

Maurice, bring it to Combe.......................:) (y)

If it helps in any way I have an OEM C2 'Silver' lift-up reverse collar available.

If you're going to do this, I strongly suggest you get at least one spare crown washer from Ford. Anyone who has done a shifter will know what I'm talking about. They frequently break when you try to remove them, which would leave you stranded at Combe, unable to change gear.

From the part codes thread:

The clip was part of the later gearshift mechanism fitted from July '99.

For distinction, if the clip itself isn't obvious, the two brackets that hold the gearshift mechanism to the floor run front to back on the later mechanism rather than side to side as on the earlier one.

I know, right?

As usual, you're the voice of reason.

Maurice, before you go, check what setup you've got. Take a picture if you need to so we can see what you have.

Don't worry if it's the crown washer type - I'm sure I can get hold of them for less than the price quoted above. It's just best to be prepared, especially when you're miles away from home.

If you do have that type, please let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Iirc the plastic washer type used on later /C2 was about £17. I'm sure i posted the info in the FINIS codes thread at the time, along with part No's.
It's also worth noting that both gearstick assemblies are interchangable. 4 rusty bolts under the floor will release the assembly.
