Hi guys, just noticed a large amount of oil and water under he front right as you look at it on the engine. It looks pinky in parts when you dab it on the kitchen towel. Im puzzeled as it has plenty of water, the oil is low and the power steering fluid is low, but the power steering is at the opposite end to were the leak is. Its all over the right hand side (as you look at it) of the radiator and underside.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

If it's reddish oil it will be the power steering as the cooler goes right across the front of the car. The coolers are prone to corrosion and leaks. Any leak would probably settle on the under tray and then drip off at the lowest side not actually under the leak.

10mm copper pipe can be used as replacement.

If it's reddish water it could be a rad leak, again where it drips on the floor might not have any bearing on where the leak actually is.

Just checked the level of the water for the radiator and its a good 3/4" over maximum for some reason. Is this related to something or just something else?...many thanks for the speedy reply by the way.

Evening guys, i have a sorry looking cougar parked outside my folks house, garage had a look, said it needed new brake lines aswell......it was only £500 when i got it....so i have a decision to make. :(. My dad said i could have his aygo if i mot'd it and got some tax.

On paper its the cheaper option at the moment.

don't give up so easily dude, go the AYGO route for now but get the cougar fixed, there are lots of how to's on here and subscribing opens them all up for you, get your hands dirty mate, you know it makes sense :oops::oops:

Power steering fix is very easy, Ria's is running with a hose loop in place of the cooler since some bright spark decided that new coolers should increase nearly 3 fold to what paid for mine a few years back, all cars need tyres at some time, I always use black circles for them. The car is old so you are always going to get problems with any car that age, for the price you paid, you can't really complain, the tyres haven't just lost their tread overnight. You get a lot of car for your £500 but if you're not mechanically minded, sell it on to somebody who is, they'll bag a bargain as you'll no doubt have to sell it for a similar price or lower.
If you keep the car, there are plenty of people on here who are willing to offer advice and/or help without you subscribing at the moment.

ps cooler is seven times dearer than i paid for mine, whilst at ford yesterday i told the partsman to check the price he wasnt susprised though

get one made out of copper from droidgordie41, he made me one and it works a treat, pm him, i'll sure he'll oblige mate :cool::cool:
