Twice in my time here at ukcougar.com i've been stumped for words. The first was last year when the club decided that I would be the first recipient of the Chris Adams award at Blackpool. I was gobsmacked due to the fact i had actually had people vote for me, but especially because I always considered myself to be a great friend of Chris, who i miss being around the forum and at events even now.
The second time i was completely stumped for words was on Friday night at Scotfest, when out of the blue, Dick (D1CKL) turned round and offered me a box, along with some words of appreciation that made me feel like i was something special and that really humbled me. I was totally dumbstruck. I have no idea if any of the other lads knew what was coming to me, but if they did, i want to thank them for keeping the secret from me, but i have to offer Dick, a massive Thankyou for what frankly i consider a great honour and all this just because it was my first ever visit into Scotland.
Thanks mate, you really did humble me. This Quaich along with Chris's award will always be in pride of place and polished regularly.

I think it's just an example of the esteem you are held in around this place Alan.

I know you have not posted this looking for compliments, but its just further evidence of you being one of life's good eggs...and anyone who has ever met you can not come to any other conclusion.

And nice one dickl!

So thats you get to be a super moderator straight off!. Only jolking Dick. That is avery pleasant thing to do for Alan who is a stalwart of this club. Well done!.

Alan this was something I did off my own back just as a thank you for having done a couple of things for me in the past. As soon as you confirmed you were attending Scotfest and told me you had never been further North than York, I just knew I had to do something special. No one else knew anything about it as I wanted it to be a really good surprise for you. Basically, it's just good old Scottish hospitality which you thoroughly deserved.

and yes lads, al put it to its proper use and had a good ol drink from it, lovely surprise for a deserving member.
