Hi

I'm having problems with the switch for my sun roof. I've tested all the fuses and the wiring loom to the switch, all have power and are working fine, the switch itself is the issue. Problem is, my sun roof is stuck half way open and I can't find a switch anywhere. It's internal workings are different to that of the window switches. I have a 1999 V6 cat, does anyone have a switch I could buy from them without me having to go through a ford dealer

there is a way to wind the mechanism back by hand, the mechanism is in behind the overhead console and the roof lining. a blade of some description will allow you to remove the interior light, disconnect and put to one side, you will then need a T20 bit to undo the overhead console, once these are out give the console a tug and it will come down, you may be able to access the sunroof motor now if not then you will need to remove the A,B and C pillars pop out the 3 retaining plugs along the back window and gently ease the lining down so as not to damage it (y)

If the switch is at fault then shouldn't you be able to manually 'bridge' the two wires in the connector plug to close the roof? If that doesn't work the fault must lie with the motor or the cables/runners?

At this point, I'll try anything to be honest. What was a minor irritation has become a pain in the butt. I don't care if the roof never works again as long as it's closed.

Do they open? :D

I think I opened both of mine to check they worked and never again apart from the post-winter de-gunge/re-lube once a year...

The roof usually opens and closes with ease. It has become temperamental within the last year. It has been established there is a loose wire going to the motor. Luckily the roof is now shut and will remain so until I have time to sort it out properly.

Hi guys,

Sorry to revive such an old thread, but I'm in a bit of a pickle!

My C1 sunroof has stuck in the tilted-up position and won't close now...

My son and a family friend are/ have both been members of the club and recommended I join and ask for your advice - basically, I tilted the roof up in the recent warm weather...it went up a bit then stopped - after a bit of fiddling it went up further but then stopped again...

I drove the car over some bumpy roads and managed to get the roof to go back down 99% of the way...Ok, not a problem I thought, we've got a spare motor/relay/switch etc and we've checked the runners/ plastic arms and all seem ok - so, we swapped over the motor/ relay and switch for known good spares - we tested them...the roof went up on tilt - then got stuck again!!!

We can here and feel the relays working, the switches click and power-up the relays, but the motors don't seem to be doing anything...

Any idea what to check next please gents???

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated - ta! :)

Good to see you today Simon

Had a play with this today, and of the two motors Simon brought with, neither worked properly (also one relay was goosed) so i'm guessing microswitches tho he has left one with me to play with, we did manage to get the roof closed using the only spare i had otherwise he'd have gone away with a working roof (thought i had more but hey ho) so if anybody has accumulated a couple i'm sure Simon would be happy to arrange something with you (y)
