talking rot, again.

Thats correct Andy, I paid and waited and waited and waited eventually contacted them and was told it was sold before i paid but by someone else in the yard- i did get my money back but it was so frustrating at the time

I believe a replacement could be fabricated from sheet steel ( as opposed to pressed from sheet as ford did )The exact shape is less important than getting the details such as mounting points correctly positioned.
I believe it can be done, but a jig would need to be fabricated first.

A while ago there was a genuine btcc mondeo for sale on eBay, one of the pics showed the rear subby very clearly and it was exactly that, formed from flat steel and fitted with fully rose jointed arms.

It's been on ebay for a while now but this breaker is in Swansea

Had a look at this earlier today. I suspect it won't be there much longer. Front end gone, front seats gone, tailgate , rear bumper lights and wheels all gone, boot full of crap from other cars. Talking to the yard the car was a driver, owner only brought it in as he couldn't keep it and couldn't sell it. Ignition key was in the car. Rear sub frame still there and looks better than mine. I'm going to collect it tomorrow. Plan to restore this one, then swap and maybe next winter and I've then got one ready for building a jig from... we' ll see.

Not sure when this was, and I didn't discuss this with them. But I will add they where more than fair with me. Chatting whilst I was there it seems this family run business has had a lot to deal with in the last 12 months or so which may ( or may not ) personally I'll be happy to use them again.

Spare sub frame now stripped back to basics. Some bolts difficult to shift but freed off in the end. My old get me out of trouble ring spanners hammered on, then hammered around to get things moving, ( after wire brushing and lubricating the exposed threads sticking out of the other end of course ) All except the anti roll bar clamp bolts, might have to put the angle grinder through the clamp and then, hopefully I should be able to get a better purchase on the bolt with a stilson to get them out.

Progress continues, all be it slowly on the spare subby. I had it grit blasted and it's come up pretty good, it's been tucked up in the spare bedroom as I didn't want to risk it getting damp whilst it is naked. Last weekend I gave it a quick coat of acid anti rust. Next weekend I plan to make up some sturdy anti roll bar mounts to replace Ford poor effort that have got the remains of sheared off bolts stuck in them. If anyone has an uprated anti roll bar they want to sell then PMs welcome. Also I plan to poly bush it so again if anyone has bought poly bushes but then not used them I'm interested.
The car is presently my daily driver topping around 115 miles per day. As mentioned elsewhere starter motor recently changed, last weekend she also passed her MOT. advisory on near side rear wheel bearing shot again. This will be the 3rd time I've changed it.
She slipped around to 100040 miles today.

Hi Top cat, I have a plan and some steel for my planned beefed up brackets, but thanks for your advice. Change of plan on this weekends work schedule. Job offer received from alternative employer. Accepted and gave my current employer my notice on friday. Hence i have spent much of today washing and polishing the car which I will need to return. Tomorrow will be the interior vacuum from A to T.
