Hi guys,

As some of you might have seen, I had recently been looking at getting a Ford Cougar.

Since joining the forum I had a very warm welcome and been given some very good advise in regards to what to look out for, common problems etc.

I had been looking at Cougar's for sale every day now for roughly 6 weeks and in that time only viewed one that sounded ideal, sadly it was advertised as a V6 when in fact it was a 2.0L. It was also rotten underneath and smelt very damp.

Anyway, I have also been looking at other cars in between my Cougar search and yesterday stumbled across something that ticked pretty much all the boxes in what I was looking for, but it wasn't a Cougar.

Today I went to look at it and brought it home.

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that gave me advise and welcomed me to the forum. It's rare to find a car club these days with such friendly and helpful members.

I'll still check back from time to time as I do enjoy the "Twat Dungeon" :)

Thank you again

I ended up with a Gen 5 Toyota Celica. It was in overall great condition for its age and was too good to let go.

Wow, excellent, lovely car. I pictured the Gen 5 as the 'new' one, I'd forgotten there have been so many Celicas over the years. Shame it's so hard to find a decent Cougar now - when I looked in late 2010, it was a piece of cake!

I did my best guys!
Looks a beauty though mate(y)

Haha! Thanks mate :)

Thanks. It's a shame about the Cougar as I do really like them, looking on Autotrader alone there were never more than 19 for sale at any one time in the Country. Picking out a good one within reasonable distance within my budget seemed close to impossible.

had several different gen celica's starting with gen 4, great car's, gen 5 was the last of the pop up headlight due to the EU,(for a lot of cars) got a gen 7 at mo but that's going up for sale shortly, always wanted gen 6 wrc 2.0 ltr celica 270 bhp as standard on the imports or 240 on britsh ones

It's a shame finding a good Cougar is so hard these days. I feel lucky to have stumbled on mine.

The car you've managed to find though, is beautiful. They're easily my favourite shape of Celica and I'm glad it met your expectations. Stick around though!

They are good fun. This is my 4th Celica but my first Gen 5. All my previous ones have been Gen 6's. Always good fun though :)

Thanks, I'm really happy with it. I'm sure there are some good Cougar's out there if you have the higher budgets to pay for them. The lower end priced ones all seem to have similar problems.

I'll definitely stick around :)
