Just wanted to say thanks for all the help this forum has given me whilst my cougar has been in my garage. After nearly 4 years its back on the road. Whilst there was nothing really wrong when I bought it, I didn't really need another car. Just bought it as it was available and I liked it. The plan was to give it a good service, and just check over everything,when time allowed. Anyway, ended up with new wishbones, cv boots, ABS rings, discs/pads all round, arb droplinks, driveshaft seal, power steering pipes, handbrake cables ,rear hubs, stainless exhaust, and full service items and more. I haven't posted much here, but believe me I've spent hours trawling thru the forum, always finding the answer to my problems. Those 'how to' items are excellent. Couldn't have done it without this forum, its money well spent, and i'm now enjoying the beast at last. Just spotted the moosing noise on start up some days, so I guess that's the next job. To any non subscribers, join up, its the best few quid you will ever spend. I've done all the work myself and saved a fortune. I've kept it pretty much standard, as my daughters say its my mid life crisis car, so didn't want to go mad with it, but love some of the cars you guys have modded. with your moosing issue, take the IACV off the back of the UIM and soak the internals overnight in carb cleaner, check that the spring has loosened up and replace, this will temporarily fix it or you can spend £80 on ebay and get a new IACV which will cure it, the anti moose kit that is sold doesn't get rid of the moosing issue but changes the resonance frequency of the airflow so you don't hear it 
Will give that a try soon. Its not much to worry about at the moment. Forgot to say, I spent more hours derusting the subframes and painting than everything else put together. Don't know why it was so rusty there as no rust anywhere else. Forgot to take any pics whilst doing the work, but have put a couple in the garage section, of how it is now. Does anyone drive with those black headlight covers on, the group buy ones from a couple of years ago. I've not used the car in the dark yet, when obviously they would have to come off, but am driving around daytime with them on. Not sure if legal or not.
No they are not road legal, I have not been pulled by the police for having them on but technically they could and that would cost money and add points
Exactly as Paul says, if the indicators etc can be clearly seen then you're ok ironically they are easier to see at night than in daylight!.

When I ordered them for the group buy each set was delivered with a piece of paper attached stating that they were for show use only and not road legal I however have had mine on for roughly a years driving, taking them off when it gets dusk without issue
