Hi guys, I just spent the last hour and a half removing and refitting the IACV, I read on here somewhere that a good long bath in carb cleaner might do the trick. So after I had my bath I cleaned the IACV too........... Happy Days, the noise has gone on start up/cold running. it's a bit tricky to get at the lower securing bolt but with a little patience and a few cut knuckles....job done regards, marco

it cost me £4 for the carb cleaner. Ford quoted me £150 to fit a kit that included a rubber pipe and a clip.............no brainer really,

when I went in and told them I had a moosing cougar, they thought I had a Kuga, seems like the dealership here is way too up to date.............

Yep, and most don't even know what a cougar is now, when you try to buy bits for it then keep saying they need the registration and you have to keep telling them the part you want is the same a a MK2 Mondeo most of the time..

After struggling with various hose configurations, I just did this yesterday and Hey Presto! instant result. The Silver Cat has been moosing horrifically all winter, in fact it happened at any temperature under 15C when the engine was cold, only disappearing on application of 'some' throttle, but reappearing again if the pedal was lifted until the engine was up to full temp.
It also accounts for the fact that while my old Cougar was Moose-Free and the new one wasn't, the problem was not cured by a complete air intake and hose transplant.
Literally five minutes to remove and reinstall (with skinned knuckles as advertised) and an hour to soak. Fluid came out only slightly discoloured, but the mechanism was obviously sticking enough to cause a problem.
I've performed two fully cold starts at an ambient temp of 4C and she purrs very nicely indeed thanks very much.

Quick update: definitely cured.
Only 1C this morning and the car has been idle for over 24hrs. Might be my imagination, but the car seemed happier, somehow...lol
