Yes, its come to that time when its time to change the Cougar!
Had the old girl nearly 7 years. Bought her with just 38k, but not really put many more on. She's nudging 12 years old with just 52K. Absolute top top car. Can't praise it enough. Cost me £6k and am getting £550 p/ex against a rather well spec'ed X-type which is only 4.5 years old. So I've lost £5.5k in nearly 7 years, can't complain there. Some will say I should have sold private but swopping over private plate, advertising, MOT due next month etc, this way is much easier.
Thats the only reason really, age.
Been around on this site 7-8 years and only stopped subscribing last year as I felt I knew everything I needed to know about my car, particularly as its never let me down. Still got the original battery! Stupid!
I only joined this club to glean information as I was never bothered about the social side, which is why I have so few posts.
Anyway, even though I don't know anybody on here I would like to thank you all for making my Cougar ownership that much more enjoyable.
Happy motoring to you all and tata. (y)

I was looking to move in to an X Type, I was undeterred by the issues with diffs/couplings etc but the ones I went to see that were nice had basic spec and the good spec ones had had very hard lives. I ended up with a Mondeo Mk3 facelift Ghia X which has more toys than nearly every X Type I saw.

Good luck with the new car and top shout on the px value.

Sorry to see you go and I hope your new car gives you as good a service as your Cougar has.
As it sounds like one that's been well looked after perhaps you wouldn't mind giving a pointer as to where it has ended-up in case someone on here might be interested in it.

I hope it goes to somebody who appreciates it. Only 52k is excellent. Mine is the same age and I'm just about to hit the magic 100k.
I aim to keep mine for another 5 years if possible. Enjoy your jag !

Well she's gone now. Should revert back to back to its original plate, X reg. Last seen near Dudley. Will either pass through the trade or off to auction.

Excuse my typo wrt 2006

The 2.2 is a much better engine than the 2.0. It pulls like a really pulley thing too... has no problem keeping up with the 3.0 petrol providing it's not from a standing start. Sport Premium is the best spec too (in my opinion) :D

Hope it's good to you!

Was lucky enough to have a 2.2d as a company car a few years back, I was very impressed TBH. A very quiet, smooth engine. Pulls well with excellent economy too.
