well tommorow i am planning to get my cat polished by my self for the first time

yes i am guilty when i got it it got machine polished by a valiter and never been done since

on checking supplies i used the last of the polish on the c8

so what polish to use what are people using now of days?

i was thinking maguires ulitmate compound then polish?

l want this done and then i will get some decent pics
 
There are loads of different polishes you can buy matey. Mequiars is very good, I have used that before, but also Autoglym is very good too. Currently, I am using polishes from i4detailing.co.uk as I have a machine polisher - have a look at their website: http://www.i4detailing.co.uk/
 
I used Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine, which is better on dark cars effect-wise, but since that has run out, been using Megs Ultimate Polish, which is a pre-waxing glaze, followed by their own Tech Wax.
Results are good and haven't had to reapply for ages
 
Try clay barring first then polish with any of the quality polishes + you'll see a difference
Ps if your comin to Blackpool I sell magiures just tryin to sort some for show discounted of course
 
thanks folks thats me just up so will be of to halfords to see what the best deal is
i used to use autogylm all the time but since trying myguires i could see a diffrence on the probe it was eletric blue and my cat is a frosty
 
So got my car done saturday and sunday with meguires ulitmate compound polish then wax and then it rained monday when i took it to work sods law

any way car was looking stunning and im sure when i wash it on saturday it will still look great the only part that i need to clean up is the black plastic on the wing mirrors iv tried sevral things on black plastic before and it just fades away any one got any tips

the time i finished it on sunday was to late to take picks i will promise on saturday to take picks before going to dundee and then crail
 
for the mirrors - and any other black plastic - get some Turtle Wax 'Black in a Flash' gel - fiver for a bottle from Halfords and works wonders!

just be careful to keep it off the glass when doing the window surrounds it can be a pig to get off

Yep - cracking stuff. Great on the window surrounds!
 
It rather depends on what you are going to be doing. If it is hand polishing - AG SRP is king, especially the new formula. A good wax is essential as on it's own there is no protection. Remember, that SRP has high levels of 'Filler' so will help hide (not correct) swirls and micro scratches. If your car has got swirls and small scratches can I recommend that you use Megs Ultimate compound, before SRP as this will really help with the depth of shine. Wax wise - depends on what colour your Cat is. I would recommend Collinte waxes (great durability) or I really like Megs Ultimate quick wax (really easy to use - spray on and buff, it is that easy). Lastly use a good Quick detailer after your regular wash and this will help keep up the protection and just waxed look.

This is my Saab 9000 Aero done using the aforementioned products - all by hand!

Before you use it for the first time use a bit of neat car shampoo to really scrub up the plastic and remove any old polish residue etc, makes a hell of a difference!

I personally use Meguiars Tyre Gel on my plastics, think it would do the same as the Turtle Wax stuff.

LO I've heard this too. The fine grains in it pull off the rubbish, and the oils soak in and bring up a shine. Never tried it myself, but there's loads of people posting on the web about it.

Apparently the only drawback is the smell...
