TopCats Bikes Thread

So inbetween being a jetset boomerang and fending off idiots in my job lol i have actually made a start on rebuilding the T140 motor.
I've also been shopping and got the majority of parts that i was short of, to get the engine cases back together.
This build is going down the 'if it looks iffy, change it' process, and being as the heads already been done along with rebore, pistons, big ends and mains, then i really dont see the point in doing half a job!

First job was getting the old cams out, so borrowed a sprocket puller off a mate and gave it large lol

Which was then followed by removal of the right side cam bushes, and pressing in the new ones

Followed by the new cams, for those who dont know, i went with a standard inlet cam as these are well known to be able to cope with 'upgrades' lol and also went with a 70-9989 profile exhaust cam from a T120 which is classed as half race for the T140 (full race being a Spitfire cam which make the idle lumpy as hell lol)

Which looks like this once they're fitted

And with the sprockets fitted...........

Once i'd worked out which woodruff key slot to use lol
On top of that, i'd also fitted new big end bolts and nuts, and clamped those puppies in place too along with the new big end shells

All i'm waiting for now is for a 7/8whit tap so i can remove the other cam bushes and look at getting the engine main cases glued back together, easy peasy 😁

Kate the Kawasaki has left the building lol
Young girly from the other side of Huntingdon has bought it, and she was happy that the carbs still need jetting so off it went, dropped it off for her and she was quite vertically challenged lol so she fitted that bike perfectly as its only a little bus.

Managed a fair bit on getting the T140 lump together too, cam bearings were replaced along with a couple of dowels, got the cases sealed together and the valve timing sorted, oil pump fitted, and timing case on with new seals.
Waiting on a layshaft bearing for the gearbox, and also an inlet rocker box, previous damage from what looks like bounced pushrods, which had taken a chunk out of the casing, found a new one tho so just waiting on that, in the meantime i'll be dropping the cylinder head off to a mates so he can skim it for me due to a dent in the mating surface before i can get the top end fitted.
