Trip to Oxford to view possible FREE cougars

This is brilliant, can't wait to find out what's behind that garage door.
It would be cool if it's some long lost ex-club car....

I have a winch... do we need an actual tow bar to drag them out or can the trailers get in?

The zetec is rolling minus rear brakes and has a running engine, however, the V6 may have seized rear brakes and we may have a problem cracking those lockers to get the wheels off for access to the calipers but wheel see :). It'll need dragging/winching as the engine won't wake up. May be an idea to bring a set of cable cutters :geek:

I'll bring wrecking tools to get those wheels off and brakes broken.

By hook or by crook, that car is going to move whether it likes it or not.

Have I missed something?

LOL yes!

Two Frosties - one purry Zetec and one non-running Duratec that need removing immediately at the Ardington site. We checked them out on Saturday. These will be removed next weekend.

There's a further three at Pangbourne which need new homes, but not immediately. I will be (probably) taking one of these.

As Al has previously alluded to, I've managed to secure the services of a couple of friends who are willing to collect the V6 and trailer it back to here to put into storage until we can organise a breaking session.
Unfortunately they can't make it on Saturday but can do Sunday so we're hoping Kevin can be persuaded to turn-up then too.
They have a winch but obviously I'd like to make it as easy as possible for them so it's important the brakes can be released and the the car made more or less mobile.
As the parts from the car will be for the benefit of the forum Al and I have agreed their costs can be covered from forum funds. Knowing them as I do this will probably only amount to their fuel costs.
Having belatedly realised exactly where these cars are actually situated I've been trying to find contact details for an old friend of mine who, the last I heard, was the farm manager of Lockinge Farms based in..........Ardington.
With access to the right equipment he could probably be persuaded to help in lifting the V6 should the need arise. I've found an email address in his name linked to the farm's postal address and am waiting on a reply.

This has been a fantastic effort up to now and I'm really sorry I can't be more 'hands-on' but we're still harvesting all hours of the day and night.:(

How about we do the mechanics on Saturday to get her moving, and your boys do the heavy lifting on Sunday?

Maybe we could get a document from Kevin emailed to us that authorises us to be on-site? Though to be fair it does seem that nobody is that worried.

Perhaps we would check in with a neighbour? That blonde lady that called in on Saturday understood it all...

It's a husband and wife team who have a trailer with winch and like 'a bit of adventure'. It would be ideal if you could get it moving while you are there on Saturday so they can just load it up and bring it back.

Thanks for that Andy. Well it seems we have it covered.
I will email Kevin tomorrow, as previously stated. I will inform him of this situation and request he bring along the V5 for both cars involved.
I'm sure he'll have no problem with Andy's mates turning up on Sunday but as Chris says, we will make sure that people know to expect car removals on Sunday.
If we get stuck in on Saturday, get the V6 wheels rollable and maybe even with the help of Ricky's transporter winch, move it nearer the gate and at least out of its tyre holes will be a big help for the guys on Sunday.
Also remember the tailgates need to be swapped over and the zetec alloy was placed into the V6 boot, so that needs to come out. Other than that i think w're sorted?
I will chuck my trolley jack and air pump in again just an case, oh and the crowbar. :)

Having stumbled across this thread, I found myself hooked and just had to sit and read all 12 pages of it ! What an amazing story ( and yet more to come ) and what a truly dedicated bunch you all are. This shows me, as a noobie, just how much you all love these cars. I take my hat off to you all for your resourcefulness and downright refusal to be beaten. 'It's amazing what you can achieve when you don't know what you can't do' ( Garfield by Jim Davis ). Then methinks, would this not make a really heartwarming story for one of the classic car magazines ? A bit of publicity for UKCougar.club, even maybe a few more members and perhaps a boost for the Cat herself ? Just a thought and once again 'well done !'...

Email sent to Kevin:

Hi Kevin

It was good to finally meet on Saturday and we have made some good progress since.

We have transporters arranged for this weekend. Saturday we will be coming down to load up the zetec, and get the V6 movable/rolling ready to be collected on Sunday by another couple of the other lads. Unfortunately that is the only day they can get due to work commitments.
I will let you know a more definate time of arrival soon but hopefully it will be another early start.
Regarding the Sunday collection of the V6, if it’s not convenient for you to meet them, will it be ok to inform neighbours etc that a car is going to be taken away?

Can you also remember to have the V5/logbooks for the cars on Saturday so that we can do the change of ownership.

Do you remember Chris and Tracey? the couple who arrived late? Well they have asked me to let you know they are very interested in seeing the garaged cougar with a view to buying it so if it is at all possible to get access i know they would appreciate it.
