You might be a noobie, but please never feel like you're an outsider. Almost all of us are like this and we welcome anyone who rocks up to have a play and put some sort of effort in. You are very welcome to put on some gloves, pick up a tool, and join in!

Seriously though, thanks for this. I'm really looking forward to the rescue if it's at a reasonable price, (Tiger cost me £380 so let's see what's what). Tracey is charging forward with the idea though.

But Chris is right... just rock up to a MFSM when Dan decides to get his backside in gear with his Subby and learn on the job ;)

And if you're not sure, just ask someone to check your work, "Can you check I've torqued that right?". Nobody here is going to think you're a wuss by asking for help.

Truth be known, this is the best way of learning.

And he aint even lying on that one. I'm not even from the UK but still feels like home carrying on with this Lot. Lots of great people here to help you learn and no one's shy about helping without making you feel like a total baffoon. Heck even with as totally insane and crazy as some of the stuff I look into doing is, there's nothing but support.

I just wish I was closer to help out I think it'd be fun times.

It was good to finally meet on Saturday and we have made some good progress since.

We have transporters arranged for this weekend. Saturday we will be coming down to load up the zetec, and get the V6 movable/rolling ready to be collected on Sunday by another couple of the other lads. Unfortunately that is the only day they can get due to work commitments.
I will let you know a more definate time of arrival soon but hopefully it will be another early start.
Regarding the Sunday collection of the V6, if it’s not convenient for you to meet them, will it be ok to inform neighbours etc that a car is going to be taken away?

Can you also remember to have the V5/logbooks for the cars on Saturday so that we can do the change of ownership.

Hello Alan,

I can meet up with you on site at Ardington on Saturday morning (what time did you have in mind?), and we can have another session with the V6, I suggest that you bring a can of easy start, a set of spark plugs, and a known good s/h coil pack, as this would give us the best chance of been able to start this car, any luck with a tool for removal of the locking wheel nuts?, otherwise it's going to be as before with the chisel and lump hammer. I have now got some better batteries and a set of heavy duty jump leads that we can try as well.


I will make arrangements to get the logbooks for these two vehicles and will be sure to have them with me on Saturday.


Regrettably I cannot spare Sunday to assist you with loading of the V6, so your going to be on your own, I will give you my phone number, and that of the owner. Should you get any neighbour interest whilst loading the car. I will see what I can do ref the garaged Ford Cougar, but I can make no promises, as nothing has changed from last week concerning the car parked across the garage entrance which blocks access. Furthermore I have not been able to get an idea of the owners price expectation on the Cougar cars at Pangbourne as yet.


I will look forward to hearing from you, at your earliest convenience, with any further developments.

If it hasn't been mentioned already, if anyone has a Bluetooth OBD dongle and the Torque app on their phone (or similar) it might give other clues as to why the V6 turns over but won't fire. I had similar on the JD and the fault code pointed at the cam position sensor which I reseated the connection for and it fired straight up.

Ok, I am making a list - Checking it twice.... Dam! its nearly Christmas 4 months Ladies & Gents...
To aid me remembering to bring everything:

Spark Plugs
Coil Leads (need these back at some point)
Coil Pack (With the approval of Chris to trial it on this car)
Spark Plug Remover
Laptop & Lead
Alan's Bungies... (Dont ask, he keeps running away)
 
I can bring the trolley jack again, as well as socket set and crowbar. I've also got a spare set of rear pads to stick in the zetec rears if we can ease the calipers to at least operate.
If i remember i'll also chuck a tarp in to cover the seats, i don't much fancy sitting in that thing as it is. o_O
If anybody has a suitable board for the jack to roll on and can get it in the car/truck/van :) that would be very handy.
 
I've got an ODBII adapter, a laptop and Forscan too, but it looks like I won't be needing them! I'll bring a light loadout including jacks and such, as well as tools to dismantle brakes. I'll also see if I have a spare crank sensor kicking about.

As I mentioned last weekend, a jerrycan with a few litres of unleaded in it might not go amiss if anyone can provide that.

How do we feel about those wheel lockers? It's just that unles we can get them off and remove the rear brakepads, I don't think that V6 is going anywhere. Drift them off, or...?
