Hi All

Having a couple of 225 50 16s fitted later today on the front of my V6 with standard Cougar wheels.

As a starting point, what pressures are you running that size tyre on.

Many thanks and a belated Happy New Year to you all.

Cheers

Mark

standard load 34 front 29 rear

Same here, more pressure in the driven wheels and to compensate for the weight of the engine. Increase the rear tyre pressure if you are carrying a full load or 3 passengers etc. If its too high at the back it effects the handling slightly, I had that the other day, swapped the fronts for new ones then had the old rear tyres put on the front and new tyres put on back, thing is they set pressure so the front tyres still had 29psi and the now new rear ones where about 36psi, drove really badly with a light rear and a jittery front, sorted it out myself and its fine now.

I was instructed to use 36 front and 34 rear by the tyre place when they fitted them with the reasoning that wider, lower profile tyres require higher pressure than the standard sized tyres.

Seems to be working for me (done 1800km on them so far) and fuel consumption has not changed and there's no odd tyre wear. Huge increase in noticable grip however going from thinner harder compound tyres to wider soft compound tyres though. I rarely see the traction control kick in when I floor it. Used to see the little orange light flash all the time on the old tyres.

As mentioned above lower profile generally higher pressure. I run 35 33 in 225/40/18's but would run 32 28 when i had standard wheels on

Mr Mork are you running Nanco Nanco tyres :LOL::LOL::LOL:

Thanks everybody

Tyres fitted and all seems good.

Passed MOT with no advisories so all clear for another year. Thank gawd.
