Hiya folks- just got my hands on this: Rather fancied one when I first passed my driving test and now it's here! I haven't stopped smiling since I bought it, it's huge fun to drive. I had a puma for a couple of years, which was a hoot but this is a far superior motor. Rather practical too.

I have a couple of jobs in mind: will the 300mm brakes discs from an st170 fit, plus calipers from a mk3 mondeo?

Also I want to fit a set of puma front seats from the millenium edition- black leather recaros with big side bolsters- will I need to change the runners?

Anyway- my new pride and joy:

Welcome to the club :)

You're spot on with the brakes, the only other thing you need are some 2mm stainless spacers between the knuckle and carrier, I've done this upgrade to two of my previous cougars and it's well worth doing IMO

One guy fitted Puma Recaros in a Cougar by fitting the cougar subframe to them, but I didn't see the result personally and he never posted pics up so I can't comment on how successful the swap was, I'm not even sure they actually got fitted to the car as they were up for sale on eBay not long after

Bear in mind that cougar seats are very low to the floorpan, unlike the Puma where you sit much higher and more upright, roof clearance will be your biggest hurdle I guess, that and the airbag warning as Pumas don't have side airbags

Nice Ebony :)

Hello and welcome to the forum. (y)

Looking very tidy.
The brake upgrade is definitely possible and the route many owners go to enjoy better stopping power.

Well I got it from a guy in Arbroath who was reluctant to sell it and had a folder full of reciepts. When I saw it in the metal it looked very clean and tidy, no signs of any rust anywhere (!) engine bay looked very original and well maintained, it drove spot on, so a deal was struck there and then. I'm in Edinburgh bud, taking it to knockhill a week on monday to put it through its paces. I'm also putting on a decat exhaust and having it chipped.

The seats are nice- electric heated drivers seat, but it doesn't offer much lateral support, hence why I've got my eye on the puma seats. I love the low down driving position and would prefer to keep it that way however, so might be one to research a bit more.

Thanks for the comments guys, will get some more pictures taken when it's ready.
