how many left says there are 8 of these left, I own one.
There were I think only a small number originally registered in the UK, but they are now getting SO scarce, they have to be saved!
I know there are other priorities and all that but in terms of UK Cougar heritage this is interesting,
I will do my best to try and save another from being scrapped!

I should have said C1 V6 VX autos.

Not sure how accurate the 'how many site' is, but I think their figure of 20 odd max that were ever registered is probably correct.

There are 3 for sale at the mo,

how many are owned by Club members?

If they continue to decline at the present rate, there could be none left soon!

its a case of the vx means duratec engine with x pack, The duratec engines came with two specification levels, largely equivalent to a Mondeo Ghia (Cougar v6) and Ghia X (Cougar v6 x pack)

extract taken from wiki page:

An "X pack" was available on the larger engine; this included leather upholstered and heated front seats with six-way electric adjustment for the driver's seat and a Ford RDS6000 six-speaker radio with six-CD autochanger.[SUP][7][/SUP]
Available at an extra cost and not included in the "X pack" were heated windscreen, electric tilt, slide sunroof, and metallic paint.[SUP][7][/SUP]

Your question Will is actually "how many C1 v6 xpack Auto's are left"

Exactly right Paul, and I presume this is what 'how many' list as COUGAR VX V6 AUTO,
with 3 licensed and 5 sorned (I have one sorned).

After a quick look through what's for sale at the mo, there are 4 plus 1 just sold.

How many are owned by club members, and are do these possibly include any of the above currently for sale?

May sound a bit boring all this! But I'm genuinly interested in how many of this particular model of the Coug are left.

I can't see that only 20 odd C1 V6 auto's with the X pack were registered in this country; that seems to be a very small percentage out of over 11000 C1's in total.

What other categories of Cougar do they list on that site Wil?

Yes Chris, it's difficult to know how accurate it is at all, but do their figures on 'how many left' have some credibilty, for example the figures relating to C2 Cougars?
Are there any other ways of checking?

...Can somebody explain what a "VX" Cougar is. As far as i am aware, the cougar came with the usual ford options list and standards, Base or Xpack.

edit:

I did a "Benham"

wiki

The Cougar came equipped with the 2.0-litre 16-valve 2.0 L Zetec or 2.5-litre 24-valve Duratec V6 engines with two specification levels, largely equivalent to a Mondeo Ghia (standard) and Ghia X (simply X)

Extras

Available at an extra cost and not included in the "X pack" were heated windscreen, electric tilt, slide sunroof, and metallic paint.

Al, there is nothing in any Ford literature that I've seen pointing to a 'VX'.
When this has cropped-up in the past it's generally been put down to a mistake at DVLA creating a 'new' model which has then been perpetuated by un-knowing second-hand car dealers.

Sounds like it going to be difficult to establish how many C1 V6 VX Autos are left!
But I do think they are fairly rare.

Much easier to know how many C2s are left, because there were only a few UK registered in the first place!
