What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

I've just been using the Cougar for work, as soon as I get a day off I get the Astra out but spent a few hours on the Cougar today and I'll be heading out in it shortly :)

Did the mod on the alty today to stop flickering lights, Not the easiest job I’ve ever done with very little working room. Anyway, job was successful apart from losing the spring clip off the plug! I did a tempory fix with a cable tie and Andy’s going to look for one off the breaker for me. Really annoyed with myself for losing that damn clip!!!

That's a job I have to do soon, not looking forward to it tbh! Has it cured the flickering lights completely?

Ditto. Tim replaced the alternator a while back so I know that's good - the flickering is quite noticeable with the Elglow dials

Does it stink yet

Im not sure but dont the dials have to be certain colours for MOT reasons?

Red - Serious , Yellow - Warning , Green - Lights?

Looks good though

Ill just claim colourblind, how am I supposed to know?

But the red lights have been replaced with Red LEDs ;)

Cleaned mine yet again, checked the levels for the first time in 2 months and not lost a drop of anything, so cleaned the headlights up a bit, really like it when its clean and touch wood it's not immobilised itself in a while...

I knew I wasnt going mad and they were certain colours for a reason

They are, but only because of the way that our subconscious responds to them in terms of urgency. Which is to say that there is a reason why red lights are red.

For what it's worth, Tim's link is a brilliant demonstration of this, but as far as I can tell there's nothing in the MOT regs that demand specific light colours on the dash. The only specification I can see is that safety ones must visibly light up as the car is being started, (brake warning, SRS, seatbelts) and then go out.

I have no real idea whether this is strictly the case, but I'd love to meet the MOT tester who has every light colour memorised, and knows that all the lights on a TR3A are red.
