What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

Two things:

1) I am so glad that the passion to work on these cars is still there. I accept that some of the old school might scoff at it,but I think it's wonderful.

2) Exactly what are those gauges measuring? Far right is clearly voltage, middle looks like it might be coolant temp. And the left one...?

Voltmeter, water temperature and oil pressure the centre section under the handbrake is c2 set into the C1 the main body didn't want to use the whole c2 centre console as I think it doesn't work all in black

Been fitting st200 bellows and k&n cone filter, the bellows are a lot easier to fit on to the throttle body but had to lengthen the air sensor wires to fit

That puts my engine bay to shame, then again I'm the only one that sees it, plus I'm not one for cleaning and polishing, just driving.

I must get around to blocking off that EGR.

Went to pull the car out of the garage today to find my passenger tyre flat, so took it off to find that the drop link had snapped at the top joint and managed to grind a massive groove into the inside wall of the tyre causing it to have a split in it. God knows when this happened and I am lucky this never blew out on the road whilst driving the car. So back on with the 18" alloys for now until I can find a tyre for the 19" TSW's. It is a strange size tyre being a 215/35/19.
Would 225/35/19 tyres fit the alloys as they are much cheaper to buy and very easy to get ?

Looks like the flat tyre was a blessing in disguise Peter.
Glad you discovered this in the garage and not on the road.
Search the web for a tyre size calculator to see how much the new size affects your speedo.

Yes indeed. I had no idea how or why it happened to the drop link. I took it back to the auto factors to show them it and they have never seen anything like it. Not only had it sheered off at the top joint it was also bent out of shape like a banana.
As for the tyre size my 18" ones are 225/40/18 and the 19" ones are 215/35/19. I am not so worried about the 35 profile, it is if I can fit a slightly wider tyre to the TSW Ribs alloys or not.

Going from 215 to 225 shouldn't be a problem as many have done this with standard wheels which are 6.5J (or 6.5") IIRC. Your 19"ers must be between 7 and 8J so probably happier with the extra tyre width.

Stroke of luck it happened in the garage Peter. My guess would be the ball joint has seized and the turning force has sheared it off. Not too unlike what happened with the "uprated" droplinks from a few years back.
