What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

The last time I used Fraud dealer they only fitted the ring clips on one side of the bearings. They soon slipped and caused the calipers to rub on the disks. Got my money back and got them to pay my local independent garage to repair the damage.

The bearings i changed recently on DG were like that, a single circlip. I used both new ones at replacement (y)

The bearing kit comes with two clips, so why only use one? 

Thing is, if two clips are in originally, they both need to be removed to press the bearing out, but you can fit the new bearing with only one clip in place for the bearing to "bottom" on to. Replacing the second clip is either idleness or ignorance. Take your pick, as the navvy said to the gravedigger. :bomb:

Changing the subject completely, today I received some lovely decals from Uncle Pid. I want to see what matt black looks like on Ebony, so...

Big Tidge needs cleaning first though.

Yeah the outter part of the bearing has a ton of slop from the inner part that is around the hub. My guess the pressed it on wrong looking how the bearing is separating, waiting for my replacement now won't be till later this week.

Hmmmmmmmm very interesting

There is precedent for it though - I didn't think of this myself (I'm not that creative!). Somewhere out there is a black Mustang with matt black Viper stripes.

When it comes to decals I'm pretty much the polar opposite of our good friend Matt (backseateducation) in that I prefer my cars as unadorned as possible. Almost everything I've bought from Al has been to make the car blacker, like the brakelight mask. The only exception is the dark grey UKCougar stickers in the rear quarterlights.

So this is just an experiment. I have received a fuel-flap Cougar face, and an external decal for the tailgate window that reads, "Wearing my scars with pride." because I am not going to fix the roof or A-pillar.

It's a slippery slope.
You'll have a Visteon sticker the same size as the back window before you know it:LOL:

WE NEED PICS(y)

Not likely! I go for as black as possible while keeping her driveable and unidentifiable. That's why she's Mercury-branded. I'm not ashamed of her being a Ford, but I'd prefer that she was just that little bit mysterious.

Its not a happy day today, my Cougar is now deceased, the underlying symptoms are auto box related failure, mechanical not electrical.
So another 6VX auto is no more.

Sorry to hear that mate. If the rest of the car is in good condition try to get a second hand box, maybe someone on the site might have one or knows where one is. It would be a shame to scrap a good car for just a gear box!!
