I had a vague recollection what that was for, but it was bugging me so I Googled it.
Not our car of course, but an interesting read nonetheless.
The takeaway is that if yuor EGR is blanked or otherwise disabled, that unit - and the wiring to it - are completely irrelevant, Olly. You can plug it in to be tidy, but you're stil going to get the "EGR flow insufficient" P-Code. And there's no harm in that.

Paul, further to our text messages, I think the pump that we put on Matt's was actually off Spaceychick's. So buying a new one was probably your only option there.

i do have another one although i cannot guarantee its condition...probably wise to get a newun..
are the psp particulary weak on a cougar? quite a few seem to have problems yet most other types of cars never do.
This will be the 2nd I have done since I started ownership in 2003, I have scrapped 4 engines with good pumps on cause I never thought I would need one, as new ones are just shy of £300 though I may have to start collecting and refurbing myself
I agree with Paul. PSPs on the Mondeo/Cougar/Contour are usually bullet-proof and that one we did for Matt is the first one I've ever done.
That said, the cost of a new one suggests that we should keep the old ones that still work...
