Very glad to see you.

Out of interest, what did Colin fail on? Is this something that we could've fixed?

Cleaned the radiator today as it was clogged up, hopefully this still stop the fan from coming on as often in traffic.

Changed the oil and filter.

While I assume there must be a way to remove a V6's oil filter without ending up covered with old oil up to your elbow, I certainly haven't found it yet! :) I always seem to get a fair bit on the downpipes too. Mmmmm, smoky...

this is why I don't put oil in my cougar, much cleaner to just replace the engine every 10 - 20 thousand miles

...That's a beauty...however long it took, it was worth it...

Hi...what I did to my Cougar today? I broke it...heard something crack and a metallic noise, followed by both the ABS and TCS lights coming on...had a quick butcher's and one of the reluctor rings has cracked...booked in for Wednesday at a garage I've never used before, so wish me luck...god knows what it'll cost me this time...I miss the days when I was able to get out there and do it myself, but the last attempt I made at working on a Cougar was attempting to remove the stereo on my old one - I failed...back with a crowbar next time...

Since you're supposed to do this hot, there's not a lot you can do to cover the downpipes.

But I was taught that when winding the filter off, keep an even upward pressure on it (as though you're trying to push it on) as you unscrew it. Keep doing that until you feel the *click* of the thread ends passing each other. Then move it briskly away and into the container.

Took mine to the local Ford dealer - it took me longer to squeeze into a parking bay than I spent at the parts counter. Thanks for nothing, Uncle Henry!

Thanks for nothing, Uncle Henry!

The man was a raging anti-Semite, bigot, materially supported the Nazis until 1941, and is representative of the worst capitalist excesses of the early 20th C.

Despite clearly ensuring his American workers received a living wage - while imposing draconian prohibition rules upon them - he wildly mistreated the local workers in his rubber-making plant in Brazil. Henry introduced edicts that were totally out of line with the local customs and commerce, and the plant was run by (American) managers who had absolutely no idea what they were doing. This caused wide-spread deprivation and - eventually - revolt. And then the plant failed because Dunlop LOL.

And although he eventually built the plant at Willow Run to build B-24 bombers for the USA, his plants in Germany (prior to 1941) built stuff that helped fuel the Blitz. And he violated the Geneva Conventions in doing so, by using French POWs to do the work - many of whom died in Allied bombing raids.

In short, the man was a collossal asshat who only benefitted the people under him - if they were American - because he knew it would benefit him.

Anyway, that's why you couldn't get a can of Silver Frost.
