What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

Don't do this. You should use your AC at least once a month to keep the clutch exercised and everything lubricated.

Perhaps should have said it's "infrequently" used. I'll switch it on once or twice every couple of months (to clear a steamed-up windscreen quicker if nothing else, which probably means it gets more use in winter than summer). I just don't use it much more often than that.

Just dipped a finger in the puddle - it's watery, brownish, slightly greasy feeling but not like oil, no real smell to it either. Would it be water/coolant possibly discoloured by the muck it runs through on it's way to the ground (or by the ground itself)? That's my wild guess at the moment

has it done this more than once?
thought mine had a leak in this area once...turned out some c*** had let his dog p*** up my car.

could have been a pressure release from the expansion tank though..they sometimes do this when stopped when the cooling fans are on.

Possibly. I think I might have spotted a small puddle under it last week, but (as usual for me at the moment) I didn't have time to look too closely. It certainly isn't doing it all the time. I'll have to take a proper look under it at the weekend (come Sunday I'm free of this god-awful job of mine), and I'll start a new thread in the Problems section to avoid cluttering up this thread any further.

It's only going to be one of two things; washer fluid - probably leaking from around one of the pumps - or coolant from the radiator bottom hose.

Washer fluid will have a distinctive smell, but won't be 'greasy'. Coolant on the other hand, will be. Look for white furry deposits around the radiator stub; you might find out that you're about to lose the hose clip, which happened to me once.

Incidentally, coolant is sweet-tasting. I don't recommend putting a dab of it on your tongue, but if you do, immediately rinse your mouth out with milk and spit it out.
