What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

Drained the oil in prep for pulling the crank oil seal. It's only a few months old full synthetic and I planned to filter it and put it back but it's pretty damn black. No rush to replace it so might wait to see what offers are around.

As for the fried eggs, love em, keepin ,mine at both ends.

How come?

Have you done this before? If not, there is procedure for getting the handbrake lever vertical that you're going to need to use...
Preparing to sell the cougar . . so will sell the airbox separately
I haven't took out the centre console before but I did find the how-to and had a quick poke with the screwdriver, so I think I'm set, thanks for the advice (y)

The puller turned up and crank pulley slipped off with ease. Prized out the old seal and cleaned away a lot of the crud caused by the leak. In the few days whilst waiting for thew puller and seal to arrive I stripped the basic components of the Dashboard. Object to change at least some of the illumination lamps and fit the C2 dash top I bought earlier this year. If I convert the 5w5 capsules to LED will the dimmer control still work ? As a non auto Spark I doubt it will. Also will the reduction in load upset the lamp failure warning system ?
I too failed to get the centre console out, like Kitty lover above I'm not aware of the trick but that's par for my course. I want to stop it being so flimsy.

Yeah, I doubt the dimmer will work. My guess is you will turn the dimmer down and then suddenly you will hit a point where the LED will just go out. But, I could be wrong. As for the lamp failure system, I didn't think they were fitted to Cougars?

There are dimmable LEDs available, but I'll leave it to Paul to comment about that as I believe he's used them (I haven't).

As for the light failure system, yes there is one but I think it's only on the OHC with 7-holes, and it's missing entirely on the Zetec. Using LEDs in the dash won't upset it though; it only monitors the front and rear clusters (and in the rear I don't think it monitors the reverse lights. :edit: And I'm not sure whether it monitors the main F & R indicators. Bizarrely, I've never had a Couar indicator bulb blow on me!).

Incidentally, if you ever put a multimeter on your cluster(s) and get a reading of 1v even though everything is switched off, this is why.

Well I finally got a me day and as the weather has been good finally got rond to fitting the graphics I got off uncle Alans months ago, really like them and even the Mrs commented on how much she likes them so thats a plus, they also hide a few dings as well. Just an exhaust and set of alloys to go now.
