..so, what exactly does this snowfoam do? Drag the dirt away with it as it falls away? I've never used it.

As I believe it, similar to leaving the dishes to soak... lifts dirt away without the need for using a mitt... usually I clean after this and always believe this helps remove any risk of swirls from dirt on the car being caught in the mitt

Centre console refitted. Having removed it from the car I covered certain areas on the underside with masking tape I filled it full of expanding foam, particularly around the armrest area. 24Hrs the excess trimmed off and the console refitted. Took some doing, 3 attempts in and out before I was happy, on the 3rd removal whilst tugging it free of the handbrake it suddenly released and I smacked myself in the eye with it. Paused to swear and wait for the pain to subside. I now have a fine bruise on my eyelid, only visible when I close my eye. I refitted the armrest screws in different holes in the tunnel bracket and used some penny washers to spread the load. Not VW build quality but a whole lot better than it was. I need to locate a replacement for the receiver for the armrest catch, never noticed before that its bust, Could do with replacing the rear ashtray too.
Also pulled the skirt from the front bumper. Not so much corrosion under there as I'd feared, I've tackled it with the rotary wire brush as the first stage of treatment. Pulled one of the fog lamps apart to investigate options.

Rik that bonnet has been painted before, badly, i noticed it when i first saw it, the primer underneath has shrunk and cracked causing that effect around the washer jet, dont be surprised if there's another colour underneath it, tho it would be interesting to see if the boot is similar, but i doubt it. Corrosion on that looks quite heavy, so could mean a bit of welding. Be good to see it saved properly tho, Will can only stretch himself so far, and Damians beast seems to be soaking most of that up.

Definately agree with all the above. I'd add that the boot lid patch is a direct cause of an ill fitted and poorly sealed spoiler.

Will it need taking back to bare metal Tony or will a coat of sealer sort it?

At first we thought it was successful. Then I drove it yesterday and we heard the noise again - but for a few minutes only then not again the whole journey. So, we'll see what happens next time.

Hi Steve, no it's not that.
It happened when we got to 30 or faster, honestly it sounds just like a seagull . Straight line, corners no different, no difference with revs or gear, nor with hot or cold engine. But it does increase in pitch with higher speed. Then slow down to less than 30 and it pretty much stops.
Anyway I didn't get it on my last trip out so I'm just monitoring at the moment. Father-in-law says nothing is going to fall off

After I couldn't avoid some large twigs in the road a month or so ago, I got a horrible noise on cornering, from the front left wheel. Turns out the plastic wheel-arch liner extension at the bottom of the front bumper, had become detached at the outer end. Removed and got it straightened then refitted and substituted the trim pin that held it previously.
