What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

Honestly, I have never seen a Zetec with one, Al. Anyone else care to chime in?

But I know how weird car manufacturers are with the way that they group options - building an Audi A4 on the configurator site is absolutely hilarious - so I wouldn't be surprised to find that you could only have the flap if you had foglights or whatever, (probably a bad example because foglights were an X-Pack option, weren't they?).

I think I've replaced three front sets (one on Mako, two on Tiger) and two rear sets in the 8 years I've owned Cougars. The bushes seem to be a real weak point in the design. T's Tomcat still has her original 21-year-old rears on (though admittedly they are different design).

I think ive done 3 or 4 sets of front drop links on V650 mainly due to it being easier to chop them off when needing to remove them when doing other work rather than deal with the rusted bottom nut on them

Did a high-level pass over Wildcat with one of my drones - camera tilted down - and discovered that I haven't been stabilising the camera correctly.

The drone itself is a bit finnicky until it gets a signal, so I think I might need to fly about for a bit before trying to record. The footage I did get was pretty cool though. Unfortunately it relies on daylight, so will have to wait until tomorrow to try again.

Done no work but front right started knocking today, hopefully a simple droplink. I should just about manage that. [emoji53]

Big thank you to Paul aka old ford fran. He's got a garage in Woodhouse village, a five minute walk from me and he's offered to sort this for me tomorrow. (y)

If anyone would like a How-To, I'll be happy to write it up, even if just for the record.

As you know, the Cougar speakers are exceptionally good quality, but they're 20 years old now and have coated paper cones. These are a huge improvement for less than £50.

Some drilling and rewiring required.

Liking those JBL's

Spent the day sanding and respraying the lower drivers side.
Was starting to get the odd minor surface rust marks on the sill / lower panel under the door, so got rid of it all and treated with Kurust, primer and silver frost.

Finally sprayed & fitted the rear exhaust infill panel too.

Cheers! I've got an earlier type (GTO639s which are also 6x9 3-ways) in Tiger that I bought some 15 years ago, have been installed in four different cars*, and are still going strong to this day. Anyone who was at Gaydon a couple of months ago would've heard Tracey blasting out Jason Nevins vs. Run DMC in the queue to get in the venue!

Anyway, based on that longevity and their performance, I decided to take a punt on these ones. If nothing else, it gave me an excuse to get outside this afternoon and fit them.

I'm glad I did; it's fun getting to know Wildcat, and it gave me an opportunity to fix some trim alignment that I ballsed up when we were fitting the leather interior over at Andy's.

Rear strut brace (and maybe the front...) tomorrow.

* Elcee and Weiss in the rear parcel shelf, then Mako and Tiger in the doors.
