What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

Took my black c2 a long run on the motorway, good as gold apart from a slight whistling that I thought was just the infamous 'moosing'... Got 1 mile from home and the red battery light came on and dashlights gone dim😭 So it's looking like an alternator replacement is required.

could also be the idler pulley..mine whistled right b4 shredding the belt to nothing ,if its the metal type pullley u can replace the bearing in it at a fraction of the cost...bearing size is 6203 and make sure its rubber sealed..
this size will also fit the tensioner pulley on the c1's

Thanks a lot for that, I'll have a look tomorrow. I think I might have the idler pulley off my old car

Managed to back my exhaust into a big pile of tarmac gravel conveniently placed in a turning area on the towpath of a canal where a friend has a narrow boat , at first I thought it had just filled the tips up with said black stuff, which I cleared out with a handy bit of wood, however on closer inspection next day one of the triangular shaped rubber exhaust hangers has split, resulting in one half of the twin MIJ system hanging free, can not get it looked at till Tuesday by local exhaust centre, hopefully they can sort it as I trip to MIJ would be both time consuming and inconvenient ☹️

Removed the headlights today as I had a sidelight bulb out and as I had some laying around, I fitted LED bulbs. I removed the headlights completely as it was much easier, which allowed me to clean behind them. The trays that sit beneath the lights had a little surface rust so I've scraped, cleaned, and degreased them, ready for some silver Smoothrite which I'll do tomorrow. If it's warm enough I'll mop and polish the front bumper as there's a couple of minor "bush scuffs" on the N/S corner. (Previous owner!!!)

Similar to above, impending MOT and had noticed the sidelight bulbs intermittent (known issue with the first set of LEDs I bought for T241 and transferred to MV51), have already updated the rear number plate and wing repeaters (new, right).

Got my thumb jammed between the sidelamp bulb holder and the hi-beam bulb holder, several worried moments whilst I worked out how to twist free - then used a large flat screwdriver to flick the sidelamp bulb holder out; didn't make the same mistake the other side.

Took the opportunity with the grill out to take it indoors and show it a toothbrush (half done):

Found a can half-full of trim shine but with no propellant left so grill was sprayed with tyre black foam for now.

Very annoyed on my return (rain):

But hey, job done (almost)

Just some toolbox drying to do.

Took it in for MOT.
Same advisories as last year (been using son's Ka for many journeys even ones where he isn't present to drive), only done about 3000 miles between.
Even so, it's temporarily off roaded awaiting delivery of pair front ARB links - tester condemned one. Hopefully see a pass on Monday.

MOT and service, few advisories, ball joint dust cover deteriorated
Play in steering rack inner joints
Front disks worn
Brake pipe corroded front to rear
Light underbody corrosion
Four tyres need replacing soon
Nothing catastrophic so happy enough, will get the parts and get them fitted as I get them.
