What is the general view on the Cougar automatic?

Dygs slushbox is deffo no slouch!!! Stripes has a 50mm restrictor fitted and its quicker than Stripes!!!! On par with my lads ST24 and Dygs ST200!!!! Just ask Mofo lol

I must say that I am very impressed with the slushbox - not as fast as the 220bhp Phoenix but - I must admit - probably not a long way behind.

My last auto was a 528iSE with 5 speed Tiptronic - the slushbox is not quite in the same league but as mentioned in another thread - had an RX8 for breakfast off the lights the other day :devilish:.

The autopilot is great on the motorway and was getting in the high 30s mpg but, unfortunately, I have not yet found a cure for my lead foot and have managed to get that down to a current 14.7 but that is inner city driving.

It is one foot, one arm driving at it's best - and it is still great fun to drive :)

I drove an auto a few weeks back and really liked it.
Relaxing, brisk when needed, but depends on type of journeys you'll make as to consumption...

A Mondeo specialist friend of mine say gearbox oil changes are essential for good box performance....negate this and it'll cost

I've had all three models Zetec manual, V6 atx and V6 manual there really isn't much between the auto and manual not anywhere near as much as people suggest. The auto is much more relaxing to drive and it isn't a terrible box changes are decent and it doesn't tend to hold gears when you want it to change. I'd have another auto no hesitation at all.
