Hi all, just bought my first cougar, it's a Mk2 v6 x pack that has been left off the road unloved by previous owner, she is going to be bought back to life. i have a spare set of 17" OZ alloys in my garage, they are ford fit but the offset is 37, would they be ok on the car and what profile tyre should i put on them.

Hello and welcome to the forum. (y)

I'm not too far from Bath; just the other side of the M4.

The standard Cougar alloys have an ET of 46 so your's at 37 will sit a bit further out if they are the same width.

215/45 is a popular tyre size for 17's.

thank's for the quick reply, might just have to get a tyre on one and see what it's like. had a lot of hassle the last 2 days, Needed 2 new tyres to take it for mot, and the previous owner did not leave the locking wheel nut key in the car, got 1 off ok the other 1 is another story, could end up damaging the wheel or cutting it off. I have a bit of experience with cars, was a panel beater and sprayer of 15years

Have you tried using a 'socket you can afford to wreck' on the locker?

Are you still involved with the panel beating and spraying?

You could do worse than giving Jim Harris a bell.
He's an ex-Ford master tech and now has his own garage in Keynsham. It's possible he has a selection of Ford locking keys.

He's on 07734266956 or 01179864010

Mention Andy and the forum and he'll know who pointed you in his direction. (y)

tried the socket, given it to a friend at a garage i use to work in to try for me. not a sprayer anymore, just do bits on my own cars. My son i play around with a few cars. All fords apart from a discovery

ok, thanks for your help, maybe see you soon when i am on the road

Hi, thanks for the messages, hope to see you all at some point when i am on the road. Got quite a bit of work to do on the car as it has been left unused for a long time, getting a layer of mould and moss off was the first job.

Thank's for the welcome. My car is going in for it's MOT tomorrow, fingers crossed. i might get my first drive in a Cougar

she failed the MOT, but not too bad. Just needs new brake discs & pads all round and an exhaust blow from a joint. Happy with that as it's been left abandoned for a long time.
