Took my Cougar for its MOT yesterday and it passed with only 1 bit of advice which was the front NSF brake pipe is just starting to corrode ....to be honest I thought the car was going to fail big time .. as one of the rear shocks looked like it was leaking (all the in-bedded mud was wet) so I got some engine degreaser and cleaned up both the rear wheel arches ..the examiner tested the shocks and said they were OK
So I'm happy as I keep the car for another year

But this post I did on another forum last year might be of some use to you all ..Instead of taking your car to a garage that does servicing and MOT's ..take it to your local council depot instead

'' Well by law we have to have these done ,But as many of you are aware most M.O.T centres also have a garage tied to them (So they can fail your car then charge you for the so called repairs that need doing ) , but whilst reading the old newspaper yesterday I found out about council Run MOT Centres that don't do repairs they just charge you for the MOT whether it fails or passes

Full list HERE ''

there are also dedicated MOT centres around that are not council run but do not have a garage attached and are usually quite impartial

Well done on the pass,

Mine goes to a local garage which does do work itself but I make it clear that I'll be doing the work! Been using them for a number of years and have gained trust, I do frown when I see garages offering mots for £20 when they obviously look like they need the repair work.

I've always used a local independant garage for my MOT and never had any problem with them (come to think of it, they've never failed one of my cars) (y)

Next MOT will probably be getting done somewhere in Bolton whistling..gif
