As per title guys, i'm looking for running costs for zetecs, insurance, fuel etc. I know it wont exactly be scientific just after rough costs.

I've heard a few times that the difference in mpg between the Zetecs and V6s isn't very much, so whats the other pros / cons of running a 4 pot ?? (y)

On my standard engine i could get up to 40 mpg on a steady motorway journey. General running costs though are negligable i think. As Si says, the maintainence though is much simpler on the zetec and everyone knows they are pretty much bullet proof and will stand a bit more abuse than the bigger V6.

Around town driving in the V6 is wallet emptying, I average around 17mpg in mine doing short journeys, hence I take the wife's car!

Zetec has gotta be better surely?

Having had both now.... There's not a lot in it. But the V6 sounds way better with the right pipe!!
The economy is 2-5mpg difference overall. Tax is as has been said. Insurance is more influenced by how many mods you declare than engine size.
Servicing is easier on the 4 pot, two less plugs to change and you can get at them easily :) Unfortunately there is a cambelt to be done on the Zetec at the time when you are most fiscally embarrassed.
Other than that it's just trinkets. Light up mirrors in the sunvisors that sort of thing. After all, it's the same car!!!

I'm plugging the laptop into mine tomorrow as I'm getting shocking fuel economy at the moment. 70mph in 5th - was reading 18.7mpg today

I've 187k on mine and i'm still getting good mpg, 32 round town, 40-44 on the M-way, for some reason my car uses less fuel going north than it does going south....

Ignoring major service items, (cambelt etc), but including fuel and mandatory charges, (tax, etc.) the annual running cost of a C1 Zetec is about three grand if you assume you do the servicing yourself and 14,000 miles running.

I can't speak for the V6 - I don't own one - but my understanding is that it's really not that much higher.
