Hopefully not as bad as the Rover 600 I saw today, White with a big bi-plane spolier on the boot and the legend "Rover 600" blazed down the side in letters about 6" high:yikes:That's the plan mate!
We've got most of it back together now. The back bumper still needs spraying basecoat and lacquer after the rain killed the first application (that's why clever people do this indoors....) and the sideskirts have to go back on. Other than that, there's a load of cleaning and polishing to do tomorrow and if all goes well I'll post up some finished pics for everyone to laugh at

If I ever see a clean post '97 Ti with low milage and in the same colour I'll have it 198bhp as standard with plenty more if you want it, LSD and 100kg lighter than the Cougar = 0-60 in 7secs flat or less all in a package that doesn't attract unwanted attention :smile5:
The downsides are headgasket failures and the Ti's tend to trash the plastic caged diff bearings thanks to all that torque but both are easy to fix :smile5:
Mine's an iSD, so it has a 2litre turbo diseasal engine (but with an intercooler so it's 105bhp instead of 80bhp) and Group 10 insurance (good as it was my first car) but with the Ti alloys and half leather interior, front fogs, aircon and electric windows and heated electric mirrors. All pretty standard kit nowadays but it was well equipped 10 years ago when it was built, and even 6 years ago when I bought it

I have to say, from the way you were talking on the phone, you really undersold your handy work to me. You've done a top job there for what you had to work with, and like I said on the phone, we all paint cars outside at some point, you just started with it. The positive is that WHEN you do it indoors, you' find it all a sinch!

Erm, it's back on the road now but I haven't finished the polishing process yet I hope to be getting a new toy soon which if all goes well shall consume this weekend, and I'm away next weekend. I'm working un-funny hours during weekdays due to workload so it might be a while before the pics are up.

Too early to spill too much about potential new toys - not to be cloak & dagger it's just that I don't want to back pedal if it doesn't happen.
I did actually phone about a 33,000 mile Cougar which appeared on Autotrader as being in a Ford dealer in Edinburgh, but it sold within the day or two between it not being on Autotrader and the time I saw it advertised. I didn't think it would be snapped up quite that quick, but I missed that boat anyhow.

As for spraying a motor outside, it can be a right royal pain in the preverbial!!!
Evening temperatures play havoc with the paint and can make it cloud over, its almost impossible to polish out too.
