Your V5C document - is your car registered as a 'Cougar 2' ?

I ask as through my work I came across something and thought perhaps some dealers may not have registered the cars when new as 'Cougar 2' and simply 'Cougar'.

One assumes this would affect surviving numbers if data was requested from the DVLA..

just curious...

fyi...mine states 'Cougar 2'(y)

Mine says it's a Cougar V6 - and the engine capacity is wrong. Says it's a 2544cc where it should be 2495cc (or whatever it is for a C2 V6)

And you're in Liverpool? And you pay a mortgage for insurance??................RINGER!!!!! lmfao!!

I'm guessing that the dealers themselves that knew next to sod all about the cars are to blame. Having said that, it also possible that there is the odd C2 kicking about with an earlier engine - ask Dave lol! His was made up from the bits in the skip out back lmfao :)

I really do need one of those 'Sorted.....by the Bolton Mafia' stickers

It doesn't have an EGR valve so it is a C2 engine - most likely down to as you mentioned the Ford dealer not having a clue (y)

Seriously though, do you think the having the engine capacity wrong at the DVLA would make any difference whatsoever with insurance?

Mine just says Cougar V6 and is listed as the smaller engine (try telling the insurance company's that there is a smaller engine) ... Or a Cougar 2 for that mater

Does anyones have the Co2 listed on the logbook?

mine says cougar 2 2495cc co2 236g/km
Interesting mine don't list anything in those box's. I think I just have the engine and chassis numbers and some basic info on the fact its a "2 axle rigid body" configuration, it runs on Petrol, its a 3 door hatchback, its Silver, its taxation class (they wouldn't forget that ;)) and when the car was 1st registered (Jan 2001)
There is nothing else on my logbook
(apart from what I said earlyer about it being listed as a Ford Cougar V6 2495cc

Ford haven't got the foggiest idea what a C1 is, couldn't possibly expect them to know what a C2 is!

Mine states Cougar 2, 2495cc, 236G/KM of CO2 and it even states the Exhaust emissions for CO ( 0.532g/km ), HC ( 0.077g/km ) and NOx ( 0.010g/km ) along with the other usual bits of information. Interestingly enough it states 1506 for Mass in service in the vehicle details section G. Anyone know what that number refers to?

I think it refers to the weight of the car - possibly the same as Kerb Weight. 1506Kg seems heavy for a Cougar though - Wikipedia say 1312Kg kerb weight

The 1998 handbook gives the following kerb weights:
Zetec 1391-1473*
V6 manual 1466-1541*
V6 auto 1497-1572*
* option dependent.
kerb weight incls. coolant, lubricants, 90% fuel in tank, tools, spare wheel and a driver weighing 75kgs.

Interesting response - I asked as DVLA info on C2 numbers will clearly not be accurate if an enquiry was made.....
The same is for Sierra XR4i (the old 2.8i V6 bi-plane). Some were registered as 'XR4 i', some as 'XR4i' and so on.....
