*Change of site ownership*

I can only speak for myself but personally I'd rather look forward, what's done is done
This is what i am saying. I dont agree with not knowing where the subs money has been spent or not. But we must move forward and Rob now has a task ahead to work out with the admin and mods teams the best way to carry forward.

He was online to view what I had put. I'm not going to air someone's private life on here. Its not right and isn't called for just so people can form radical assumptions and paint the wrong picture. Lets just say all this hostility has pushed him far enough and I am now in control.

This site was run as a service based membership. Hence there doesn't have to be any accountability for anything. It was like this when I joined and it was like this up to this present point. The "newer" members don't seem to grasp this aspect so I'm being blunt.

What I'm offering is a chance for clarity and reform that people have asked for. A chance for the club to move on as you want. If you want to proceed and help then brilliant.

This is what i am saying...... onwards and upwards. What has gone before is then..... what happens from now on is all that matters now.
All i will say is i wish Jason well and all the best for his future. He has made his choice now and we must just draw a line now and carry the club forward. There are quite a few hard core members who if are aloud to will carry this club forward in the right direction.

Moving the club forward is what we all want, and hopefully at some point down the line the good people of UKC will transform from being subscribers into members.

I'm sure you can count on everyone's support from this point in Rob. The outstanding questions can only be answered by one person and one person alone - either they will be, or they won't. There's no point getting on Rob's or anyone else's back about those unanswered questions.

Anyway, let's take this as the first step into a brighter future for the club and support Rob throughout this transitional phase and into the new dawn for UKC (y)

I'm all for the club moving on, and I'll continue to support it and to pay my subscriptions. I don't even have access to my Cougar at the moment, but this club is so much more than a searchable Cougar information portal.

The sentiment of "The money's been spent, you can't make us tell you how, so we won't." sticks in my throat a little, but it seems fairly clear that, as in the past, we are not going to be privy to that information. No, there is no legal (as I understand it?) obligation to provide the information, but I'd have thought someone in a position to do so would want to (and I genuinely have no idea who that person or persons is or are, so there is no finger pointing directed at specific individuals here), if only to prove that nothing underhand or dishonest has/is going on and to stop people repeatedly asking a question which is bound to come up time and again until it is actually answered with something other than "Not telling you, so there."

there is no dishonesty. It was a service based site. The money was spent on what it needed to be and the rest was the owners. You guys come on and access the information as subscribers. this is what's altering now.

what you lot don't see is when the site has been propped up with my own money because we haven't got enough for software renewals. the parts where we were hacked and had to pay for access to database backups because the main ones were destroyed and our backups would loose too much content. The hours that have been done by myself and Mark unpaid to make sure you get what you paid for.

I'm asking for an olive branch here. I've got enough on at the minute myself with work and moving houses but I have taken this on to make sure that the 8 years of hard bloody work in this site don't count for nothing.

The money was spent on what it needed to be and the rest was the owners.

That, right there, is all we needed to know, and what could have been clarified ages ago to put an end to speculation. The club is owned by someone, we pay that person to look at the information on the forum or to attend club shows, the owner spends what he deems necessary to keep the club working and anything left over belongs to him. This seems perfectly logical, not sure what the years of skirting around anyone publishing that one simple statement were all about.

Line drawn. Now, we can move on.

I have a respect for all the hard work done behind the scenes.

A couple of aspects about have gone off do not sit comfortably with me to a degree.

I don't like the way this has all been pinned on Jason. I have a small understanding of the personal issues that Rob mentions and it can't have been easy. I hope they have been resolved.

However, i firmly back the move to, well, move on.

The future of this club i believe depends on drawing the proverbial line and dealing with that in which ever suits you best (acceptance/helping/dig heels in/finger pointing/provide solutions).

A donations proposition doesn't work as far as i am concerned. It should stay as a subscription service.

Maybe the amount needs to change, perhaps there should be differing levels of membership, but I will happily go along with whatever Rob deems fit in the first instance and help in any way i can to improve the club and help it grow again.

Membership dues, which none of us have an issue with, can give the club the financial solidity to become something great. If it ain't broke don't fix it! (Personally I'd make it a nice round £20)

I'm very much up for moving forward; the last couple of weeks told us two things were "broke"

1. Money
2. Drive

1. We can solve easy as pie, in fact, I think we just did
2. We have that too don't we? Sure seems like it.

So we can move forward in a very positive way.
That people still ask the question; totally understandable. The explanation, whilst it may stand on seriously thin ice legally speaking, is the explanation. No amount of debate, shouting and general complaint will change it.

Here's to the future UKC. Let's embrace that.

I've kept out of this till now 1)Because it takes me all of my time typing and checking my spelling 2) I dont really have anything to say with the running of the club 3) If you want good advice from like minded persons that will save you££££££££££££'s and have MFSM you can call at anytime why wouldn't you pay a small fee. All though i may not be as active and as mobile as I once was as a person who knows one or two things about the Cougar and happily share this knowledge with members. I also feel sorry for JJ the last two years or so have been horrendouse for him (and I would think the last thing on his mind would be a car club!) Thanks to Rob for picking up the reigns and keeping the the club looking forward.
Although I may not own a Cougar now or any vehicle for that matter I will always offer sound advice that you can count on the be right. Lets draw a line under this now and keep the club moving forward. Just my 2p worth.

Good post Mark (y)

I feel this forum/club is about to be bootstrapped, so let's drop the crap, buckle up and hold on tight. There's a hell of a lot of enthusiasm being shown very recently. Let's channel that into the future of UKCOUGAR.org and start by making 2014 the start of a beautiful friendship :cool:
