After Al had some issues with dirty injectors the mafia sent me some to be cleaned. After I did them Alan said he was intrigued in to how it was done. I had some ST200 greens to do for Martin so I thought I would show you all how to clean fuel injectors.
Important!! make sure the wife is at work or out for the day so you can trash the kitchen
this is how the injectors arrived at my house. I had already started to strip the O rings and retainers.. Pretty grubby!
So onto the cleaning!
I use a solution of 100ml warm water, 20ml of sea clean solution and a cap full of Acetone
Time for a lap round the ultrasound! 180 seconds a piece
After cleaning vs dirty
Now onto cleaning the internals! The injector is basically a solenoid that allows rapid opening and closing. To get the internals cleaned I run a 9v power supply set to oscillate at 80hz and I dangle the injector in the bath so that it gets a good clean out.
Half way there!
All done!!
Now I would normally recommend new seals and retainers at this point but I couldn't see anything wrong with these ones so I changed to plain water with a bit of fairy liquid and gave them a clean up. You can see the muck coming away!
I didn't take any pictures but I dry them with compressed air once done and cycle them to make sure that any water is purged.
Rebuild them and your all finished!!
