After Al had some issues with dirty injectors the mafia sent me some to be cleaned. After I did them Alan said he was intrigued in to how it was done. I had some ST200 greens to do for Martin so I thought I would show you all how to clean fuel injectors.

Important!! make sure the wife is at work or out for the day so you can trash the kitchen

this is how the injectors arrived at my house. I had already started to strip the O rings and retainers.. Pretty grubby!

So onto the cleaning!

I use a solution of 100ml warm water, 20ml of sea clean solution and a cap full of Acetone

Time for a lap round the ultrasound! 180 seconds a piece

Now onto cleaning the internals! The injector is basically a solenoid that allows rapid opening and closing. To get the internals cleaned I run a 9v power supply set to oscillate at 80hz and I dangle the injector in the bath so that it gets a good clean out.

Half way there!

All done!!

Now I would normally recommend new seals and retainers at this point but I couldn't see anything wrong with these ones so I changed to plain water with a bit of fairy liquid and gave them a clean up. You can see the muck coming away!

I didn't take any pictures but I dry them with compressed air once done and cycle them to make sure that any water is purged.

Rebuild them and your all finished!!

Thanks for the insight Rob, very informative as i've never seen this done before. When you connect the 9v, does that mean the injectors are in effect firing while being cleaned?
Oh, and has anybody accidentally sat on the ultra machine o_O:LOL:

Yes mate. They are not designed to be held open with a constant power supply so I made a 555 timer circuit to oscillate them at 80 times a second which is about 60% duty load. that way the ultrasound bath can get right through and push the gunk out!

Be interesting to see the results of your cleaning session on the cars performance.
Is that one of those cleaners used for cleaning jewelery etc. think i've seen them in Maplins?

So basicaly Alan could send you his then?

Its an ultrasound bath Matt. They do use them in jewelers yes, I use mine to clean all sorts.

It should perk the engine up a bit but that depends on if Alans Injectors are fouled up or not. And I've already done a set for Alan that the Mafia sent me. Do you not read

According to the first run on Sunday Rob, my injectors were spraying the moon , fuelling was all over the place. Remember that the engine block i now have in my car is the remnants of Tom Greens old engine, which was stood idle for quite some time. I did put a good dose of injector treatment in yesterday at ASDA £2 a bottle :) but replacement will take place regardless this weekend, depending on HMRM, I already have a new set of seals.

the seals on these ones are ok mate.. they haven't dried out and i've given them a clean. should just be a straight swap out.

Think you need a trip to Specsavers Matt! That's 3 threads in a row I've opened that you clearly haven't read properly lmfao!!

I got my injectors reconned last September by a company off ebay, I forget the name now, now that i've seen this wish i'd had a go myself :) If anyone is thinking of doing it themselves, I work for Lidls and we sell these ultrasonic cleaner baths a few times a year, mainly around Christmas, think they were somewhere between £15-£20, so alot cheaper than sending your 6 injectors off to be cleaned which will cost you best part of £70. Only benefit of having them professionally cleaned is you get a spray and flow report etc, but top stuff Bob, is there nothing you don't put your hand too? :D

His wallet!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Coats on I'm gone.............................................................................................................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not really matey. I begrudge paying money for something that I can work out how to do myself! I think my ultrasound was about 50 quid from maplins but because it has variable power settings for when your cleaning different objects and it can also handle solvent cleaning/

Only joking bud why pay someone to do a job you can do yourself!!!. Those injectors got there quick smart . Did you get the wheel nuts too??.
Also the don has a nice quick realease steering wheel if your interested. Give us a bell at hq much cheapness!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are these the baths intended for jewelry? If so, that is an amazing deal, (even though I only have 4 injectors)
