That reg can't reassigned to a different car either. It will currently be on "hold" in the DVLA system incase you transfer S600GAR off the car again as it will then return to its original reg.

If there is another car out there with the same reg its a clone and therefore illegal. IF it definitely has Al's original reg it needs reporting ASAP!

Just seen this and totally agree, The last thing Al want's is to be arrested for anything he did not do... :cautious:

In theory, S97XAV should show as unassigned or it will show as currently assigned S600GAR Cherished registration. In any case Al shouldn't see any grief from it if the plod do their jobs right if they have to look up the reg. That does depend on the DVLA having done theirs right though!

What's needed here is confirmation of another vehicle with the EXACT reg that we believe belongs to Al's car.

DVLA and Online checks return S97 XAV as No Vehicle Details Recorded. All that means is the reg is unassigned. Only a police or DVLA direct check will show its origin and that its a suspended registration mark.

I only ever get arrested for things i didn't do, Add. I'm innocent i tell thi. am innocent..........
From Gav's original "spotting" post, he does mention that he could be wrong, also in the "XAV" thread. I am assuming this is a simple mis-read on Gav's part, but i will make enquiries. (y)
