Cougar Spotting

twice now in 2 days I have spotted a black one in and around Corby, must of looked a nutter trying to get its number plate but not as of yet! There has only been 3 I have seen about town, one black (I know the guy who owns that) a purple and mine.... so either they have bought the black one from my friend of we have a new cat in town!! I will continue to try and get the plate number and talk to them :D

That Ebony will be the same guy I thought was a club member who I thought was coming to you?

This bank holiday weekend involved quite a bit of road travel.
Saturday was the Modified Nationals/Hot Rod shows at Peterborough. I was sure I'd see a Cougar either there or on the road, but sadly not.

Sunday/Monday was a family motorhome journey/overnight to the Margate area.
In this trip we spotted several rare cars, including two separate different Mclarens (one travelling with a similarly-liveried Lamboughini), a 2010 Chevrolet coupe, a 1956 Ford Popular, a 1994 Ford Crown Victoria in NYPD livery, a 1977 Bristol and, on our site, a 1938 Morris Tourer.

I also kept a lookout in sidestreets and driveways determined to Cougar Spot, although we spotted many Pumas (the two pictured at one address) not a single Cougar was apparent.

On our return journey (A2 westbound) I was just mentally wording my next post to Cougar Spotting on the theme of how many hours spent on the road not seeing a single one, when lo and behold we were overtaken by Y647NOO !!

But that was the only one.

V14 WEN Ebony, Zetec looks std, seen this parked on an industrial estate in Newtown most evenings over the last few months
kept forgetting number, wrote it down in the end OFS

Spotted in Barnsley c1 Y277 RPY spoke to owner who's also got S reg c1 on drive for spares the Y reg was registered in march 2001 that's 3 month after my C2 so there c1 is newer than my c2

Date of registration means very little. Quite often cars are built and can sit in storage or holding sites for years. That's why there were 52 plate C1's. They were not popular new due to the high price tags. A few years on stock meant they could be sold cheaper. The registration mark only gives an age of registration, not build. C1's were available from 08/1998 - 2003 and C2's were available from 09/2000 to 2003 as well.

Thanks so much for info so my c1 was prob sat around for a while where as my c2 was sold within a fortnite of It being built do there cant b many x reg c2s around then

Saw 3 Cougars this afternoon - a T-plate Melina with a nice stainless exhaust on Ringwood Rd in Longham, a silver one V... OHK going past Bournemouth Airport (-HK definitely seems to be a common reg suffix, probably not surprising given that it's an Essex reg) and another Melina parked up near Blackwater Junction heading into Christchurch.

Hi will I've tried posting a picture but it wnt let me if uve got an email address ill send u a pic I'm fetching it to cougarfest and castle Howard aswell

Just been talking to a lovely lady in Hoyland Barnsley who's got AK51FEU a beautiful black C2 VX that's manual and she's also got a T reg zetec that's in the garage wi engine problems which she needs help with I've asked her to join the club cos u guys cud get her c1 back on the road for her. But the C2 is gorgeous is it a bit rarer cos its a vx manual? Her names pat so if she joins that's another two cougars to add to our ever growing fleet lol

Great to see you are getting people interested in the forum but please don't fall into the 'VX' trap.

Ford never designated any of the Cougar models VX; the X pack was only available on the V6 and it's generally thought 'VX' came into being following a mistake by someone, probably at a dealership or DVLA, entering the wrong info into an initial vehicle registration.
