CougarFest 2011 chat/questions thread

I am doing fancy dress on saturday night. Matt, if wham is on the play list I hope that your face from your head unit drops in a crapper. It should be an 80's free zone!

O.K., I know it needs a clean, but what with the lack of the normal cooking facilities, we can bring this gas BBQ:

Sorry about the pics, but I mistakenly asked Rachel to take them, as it's at her workplace.

We usually leave at about 4/5pm but most leave early afternoon.
Feel free to leave whenever suits you and your journey home.
Last year I think John (everton2004) stayed the Sunday night but I think he had something on nearby the next day.

Yeah we had a show to go to at Santa Pod on the Sunday so left early morning and stayed an extra night - was a bit weird with all the other Cougars missing though!

I'm not able to go this year, but got a couple of questions as we'd like to go in the future. Sorry if these have already been answered but there's 15 pages of this thread and I haven't read it all :)

Does anyone take children?
Is it kiddy friendly or is it more geared up for an adult laugh - no children?
Is it just tents or are caravans allowed? (maybe tricky with the cougar though) - I notice a caravan on everton2004's signature so presume they are allowed.
Does anything else go on or is it an event solely organised for the Cougar Forum?

Unfortunately this is the last year this event will take place but in answer to the questions,

Kids are welcome
Caravans are welcome
It is just us lot getting together and having a good time not a show as such just a chance for us to get together in person and see each others cars.

I would think something will come up next year, we have been discusing going to the Euro-Cougar fest next year

I certainly won't be!, next year will most likely be a camping weekend modified nationals style.

JJ

Well yeah the Euro-fest was just a suggestion, not set in stone, there is camping nowadays at most of the majour shows; Modified Nationals, Tatton, Ford Fair/TRAX, Castle Combe etc. so anything is possible :)

Really wish i could make this one, but alas i start a new job tomorrow and just can't do it, then i read it's not on next year.. Just as i get a new Cougar as well..

I'm sure there will be plenty of other meets, where camping and having a good time will be involved abeit possibly at a Trax event etc. As has been said many times before...it's about the people, not so much the cars. I for one will be disappointed as thoroughly enjoyed last years CougFest.

I don't believe that for one minute. One way or another there will be a fest next year.

Well we were in that position last year and we all asked for it to have a reprieve, it got one and only the usual crowd committed.

No offence to those who are making the effort, I salute you all because money is tight for everybody including us, but some people talk a good line in bull ****. This is probably the death of Cougarfest as we know it, 20ish cougars from the national club, the RS clubs probably get more than that for an area meet, the XR owners club probably do too even though the cars have been out of production for many years.
