CougarFest 2015 Catering and Attendance.

Thanks

Thanks for making me a Daf and Colin the Cougar so welcome on Saturday. It was great to chat Cougars and pick up a few hints and tips - will make the effort again next year.

BTW stumbled across the Vauxhall owners club meet at Billing aquadrome on the way home. Some people do have odd passions in life!

Best regards
Mr and Mrs Bordercougar

Well, I have just arrived back home to gloriously sunny Scotland after a detour through Essex on the way home. That turned out to be a complete waste of time as the guy, and the car, were nowhere to be seen. I cruised his street for around 15 minutes looking for the car, but, to no avail. I asked three residents if they knew of anyone with a car the same as mine, but, nobody did.
Any way, Fest was amazing as per usual, after a nine and a half hour journey to get there then set up my tent and the Gay Zebra with Chris and Alan, it was time for a well deserved rest. Get the kettle on Vonny was the battle cry.
The weather was not too kind to us his year but it did not detract from the enjoyment of the meet. As previously said, it was great to meet new members and be able to put a face to the names.
Big thanks to Kathy for doing my cooking for me in return for being able to use my cooker. Thanks to Steve for the BBQ'ing, Vonny and Emma or the endless cuppas, Alan and Paul for diagnosing my Air Con problem, Paul ( Procom ) for my front fog-lights and to everyone else who was there for their friendship and banter over the weekend. There were a few deep discussions about anything and everything in the Gay Zebra while the drinks were flowing.
As an afterthought, to anyone who was not in attendance over he weekend and is reading this, you missed out on a brilliant weekend. If I can make this all the way from Central Scotland, surely others who live closer than me can make it as well. Come on people, SUPPORT YOUR CLUB.
Roll on next year.

Great to meet you Dick, and everyone else at Fest on Sunday.
Your collective knowledge of things Cougar is truly amazing, and thanks for advice on a few things.
Meeting you all and seeing some other great Cougars has inspired me to keep going with the work on the 3.0L Cougar.
cheers,
Wil

Yes, the number of attendees was low - and the number of Cougars was lower - but we had an excellent meet anyway and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I both agree and disagree with Dick which, because I like the guy so much and he's certainly not wrong, is fine by me.

I think we were the victim of circumstance this year. Too many other things going on. All I'll say is I appreciate the support for the meet, especially the people who were able to rock up and say hi for however long they were able to (Bordercougar, Manos, Wil Leaper, Shirtyzeus and Silver Dream Machine) and the support I've personally had this year from whoever you are.

Just noticed we don't have a pictures thread, so I will start one...

Unfortunately some of us just dont have a choice, I have never been able to make any cougarfest - I get a lot of time off but its mostly weekdays and i cant swap . But i consider myself lucky to have a job that i like doing with decent pay so unless fest falls on one of my rare weekends off as Coome did this year then i am stuck

That may exceed my tolerance for sleeping under polyester to be honest! I don't have the advantage of being ex-military like some here... :)
Chris you live so close you could just stay occasionally when your under the influence

I think it is a good idea. More opportunities for day visitors.
or people who work weekends

good idea that...although it would have to be in the school holidays for me
That would make sense as it would be cheaper that an out of school club and we could make Fest a proper family Meet (y)

The trouble is that I wouldn't want to miss any of it. Admittedly I might go home for a shower now and again though - the ones at Grendon are just awful. Muddy floors from Friday afternoon onwards. Alternate freezing/scalding water like a Two Ronnies joke from the late 1970s. Faeces on the walls. I could go on.

Anyway, what was interesting to me - and it's something that I was a bit worried about since this is the first time I've done all four days - is that we never ran out of things to talk about.

I'll cheerfully admit that I'm quite happy in my own company (as long as I have something to keep me occupied) but I do find people in general to be very interesting. It's amazing what you learn about people if you can just ask the right questions and then...let them talk. So many diverse backgrounds, and the one thing that binds us together is the club*.

* I was going to say "the car", but you only have to look at the attendance to know that's not quite true anymore.

Wow, you're really selling it there, Chris! :)

I must admit I'm not enamoured with Grendon....yeah I know it's just camping but the facilities are shocking compared to other sites, there's not a great deal to do...no on site shop...

When you compare it to what we had at Scotfest there is just no comparison.

I for one would welcome a change of location next year, but perhaps that's something to be picked up elsewhere as I don't want to dilute this thread, cause...as always...Fest Rocks!!

It was a great weekend, would of been nice if it was longer, there is a little village down the rd, and if you want to do something else I know there is a bowling ally by tesco and you'll have google what to do near grendon lakes with the kids. I would like to thank Chris and Alan for your help on friday to put the garage up, thank you Vonny for the tea and food on friday, The people who done the cooking on saturday Steve, Chris and Gem. Thank you Vonny for your help on monday to put the garage down. Thanks Dick for the lift to the pub for Sunday dinner it was nice to be chauffeured for a change. It would nice to do be in a tent for week as it's always a been a weekend in the tent. All my other week long holidays always have dwellings with bricks lol
