Cheers for that. I am going to take it to a friend of a friend and see what he will charge to re do it. If it starts getting expensive I will give you a shout and take you up on your offer. Got my new full set of discs n pads arriving Tuesday, so hopefully I will be able to stop by end of next weekend, bit more important than how she looks at present. Any idea what tool I need to remove the callipers and where I can get one.?. Also (sorry if its the wrong place to ask) but my fan is running constantly from when I switch the ignition on. Any ideas how I put this right. Cheers......
The brake pins are 7mm allen key bolts. You will need a set of pliers for the retaining springs (the ones at the front of the caliper that stop it from floating). Other than that, you will need a caliper compressor, or some length of suitable bar to retract them.
As for the fan, is your aircon on? If so, the fan will run constantly. If not, you probably have a faulty temperature sensor.
Great news ! Sorry can't help with the fan . . .I am now ready to enjoy the Cougar experience
is the fan issue related to the HVAC or to the engine fan? Thanks for your help and advice. Had to take the old girl to a garage to have the brakes done in the end as the rear star bolts (who's great idea was that????) were seized solid and the front bolts were on the verge of rounding off. So a lot of heat, a bit of swearing and £60 later, we have a shiny set of discs and pads and a Cougar that stops when you ask he to. Rear bumper has been saved and repaired, so I am now ready to enjoy the Cougar experience. Still haven't worked out the fan issue.. But I'll get there. Any meet ups taking place ?
Hi, Sorry for the delay in replying.. Been on Holiday where internet and technology are a thing of the future. But boy it was peaceful... The fan has been running since I bought the car.. I switched the A/C off and they stopped. But the next time I started it up the fan was running again. (A/C still off) Then stopped So very intermittent...Also, while driving around, the temperature gauge went right up then dropped again (with fan running), but engine didn't seem to get over hot and has plenty of power.?. Would love to sort it out before a long drive out, so any help would be much appreciated.....
