Early cougar

Search for thread 'oldest Cougar', good info there.
I have a June 1999 reg Melina.
Reg date and maunfacture date will vary.

An R reg Melina appeared in some of the promotion videos.

All of the first batch S**XAV's were registered in the middle of November '98.

As far as I know, mine is the oldest within the club with S193 XAV, but Scunny had S97 until recently, and I've seen an S189 on Auto Trader for about a year. They would have been brought into the UK during the Summer of ''98 as apparently they were part of a parade lap at the Silverstone GP

Hi Guys, New here but i think i currently have the oldest cougar, R883 HAR, was the review car, test car, top gear car, what i believe to be the last of the pre production cars. Its been sat on my dads drive for a few years now and is in a sorry looking state, he needs to get it gone now too, Any suggestions the best place to try and sell it?

I'm not being harsh - I'm being honest.

Unless the body is solid, you won't sell it at all. The previous owner (or maybe the guy before him) tried to get it valued here.

1) This car will have been abused by the press.
2) But Ford will have serviced it well during that time.
3) It's worth about what an SxxxXAV would be, given that it's a 17-year-old Ford, regardless of how it's been looked after since. About £300-400 if it's cherry.
4) It's very tricky selling a car on a model-specific forum because... We already own one.

Good luck to you, but I think you will struggle. AutoTrader is going to be best for you, Leroy.

Bit naughty, but what's done is done. I would, however, request that leroy5765 and cougar2man conduct any further negotiations by PM. Failing that, Leroy will need to meet the selling criteria (be subscribed for a minimum of one month and have a post count of at least 10) and I will move the relevant portion of this thread to the classifieds for him.

I think this car could be worth money in the future in the right hands as it is the only R reg one out there and the very first. If someone with the time and space puts the effort in then it could become something very special in years to come.

I do have to agree with value though. If it is in very good condition you would be looking at what has already been quoted for value right now as it is not worth any more than what is out there of that age. People have been picking up Cougars for a little as £150 with MOT.
You do have to remember the age of the car and nobody wants a big V6 2 door old car that is going to cost serious money to maintain and fix.
