How much oil do the V6's generally use? I have had my car since last July and only done about 1500 miles in her and she had already received a full service and oil change prior to me buying. The oil is still very clean and doesn't seem to have used any? every time I check the dip stick - still at same level. But to err on the side of caution I have bought a couple of litres and have topped up slightly. I really only use the car maybe once a week or when the sun comes out (...hardly ever then! lol). So, is this really aimed at those who use their Cougars on a daily basis???
I'm in same position as you, do about 2000 a year and don't think i have ever needed any oil between annual oil changes.
Has anyone else noticed the Change Ford did with the Dipsticks ?
Probably down to quite a few of the engines having the "Death Rattle" in the bottom end.
The Older "T Bar Top" Dipsticks are longer than the Newer "Hoop Top" Dipsticks.
The Max Mark is in the same position between the two, but the Min mark is set higher on the New Dipstick so Ford have decided that the Old min level was not enough oil to safeguard the engine.
This is why member say always check your oil level & dont let it go below the mid point of Max - Min.

When i was doing 800+ a week mine would use about a litre a month but now i add 1 litre between sevices
As its been over 2 years now i hope he has got some sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep
