I'd hate to name a favourite from mine. There are 2 which I was less enthusiastic about, but I'd really liked most of my cars.
I could never understand buying cars you didn't like - that's why I waited til I was 21 to buy my own first car. Paying a fortune for insurance on a rotten 1.3litre snotbox just didn't appeal. Latterly, I'd rather have a used nice car than a new bland car.
Actually, the cheapest car I've owned in terms of brand new OTR price was our MX-5 priced at £18,500, and the dearest is the current on for which we have paperwork to the tune of £36,000. Depreciation can be a wonderful thing!
1) Cougar 1 probably just pips the others in terms of memories.
2) I've liked Rover 1 enough to rebuild it after 2 crashes and never felt so proud of a car since first getting that one - as a first car it was immaculate, very well equipped for it's day and has proven to be a totally dependable car.
3) I've never had so much fun driving as with the MX-5. It's a real shame that's gone now looking back, and I'm always on the lookout for another one as good.
4) I've never been so happy with a car as an all-round package as the current Jag.
5) I've never found it quite so funny letting boyracers and Audi drivers positioning to overtake coming off roundabouts then effortlessly pulling away from them as I have with a 13 year old white Rover 600 series - but that's not a good enough reason to keep it.
